The Leaver Problem

I've F*cking had it with leavers.

And I've had it with Rito not coming up with an effective or efficient way to F*cking handle it.

"O but they get banned from future games." DONT CARE! THAT DOESNT HELP ME NOW!

The pure rage and anger I feel when I'm in a ranked game and someone leaves is beyond measure. Especially my placement matches! Why should the entire team suffer cause of a single A**hole who decided to leave or HAD to leave?

Simple answer: They shouldn't.

So I have come up with an easy solution that Rito should of come up with already. Actually a couple.

Solution #1: Very simple. If someone leaves, they are banned as usual AND the game DOES NOT count. get that? let me say it again

THE GAME DOES NOT COUNT.

once more?

THE GAME DOES NOT COUNT.

How simple is that?

and the victors, of course, can still get a small amount of IP, BUT the losers should not be suffering cause of the leaver. Its Fcking Bullshit.

Solution #2: If someone leaves a game, we really shouldn't be wasting our time.

So, upon someone leaving a game, a timer should be started.(5-7 minutes maybe?)

If the leaver does not return within that time frame, the game ends.

its simple, its easy, and ITS FAIR!

HOLY SH*T RITO! I JUST DID WHAT AN ENTIRE OFFICE FULL OF DEVS COULDN'T DO IN 5 YEARS!

This is the only real problem I have with the game. I don't mind losing a good match. It helps me grow as a player in skill and attitude. But when I lose cause some f*ck head rage quits or didn't time plan properly, I want to severe the universe in 2.

So, there you have it. A solution to probably the greatest problem this game has.

I have some other ideas but they can be strongly debatable in terms of dealing with toxic trash in pre game and selection.

Let me know what you think!

A majority of my placement games had AFK/Leavers. I agree to an extent. I think the losing team should get an automatic loss prevented if they have an AFK or Disconnected player. I don't think that the game should automatically end after a timer, but I think something like a surrender option should pop up. Automatically ending the game would make it so there's no chance for a 4 person team to make a comeback. I've also seen an idea proposed where the enemy team can be "merciful" and end the game early if there is a 4v5

Nope, not gonna happen. Most leavers are ragequits. Most ragequits are because things are going bad enough that the player wants to give up. If you somehow forced that player to keep playing, you were still going to lose that game.

Totally unfair to the team that's winning to not count a ragequit as a win.

Added bonus - now you've created an incentive to rage out at players who are struggling, so they're more likely to quit. That's bad stuff, man.

DotA has a similar thing where games become "safe to leave" after 5 minutes of a player being afk. It doesn't change the result, but you don't have to wait for 20 minutes to hit the door. I think it's nice.

How about a slightly more practical implementation:

  • The team without the leaver wins. (Making an enemy leave is a good thing)
  • The team with the leaver gets loss forgiven, lose 0 LP and it does not count against their promos/placements.
  • The leaver gets all of the LP loss their team would otherwise have lost, and a leaver mark. If he's in a two man premade, the penalty is split between both.
  • If people flame someone to try and make him leave, he can just mute them and report them, the chat log should be blatantly obvious.
