Why are leashes allowed to be a thing?

I feel like the first camps of a game should get a nerf or SOMETHING. It's too often that I lose 1-3 minions worth of XP because my jg needs a long leash, OR if they connect a minute late and can't get get a leash, then they're behind for a while.

The whole concept of leashes is dumb. A jungler should be able to take their own jungle camps without needing help, especially if it could put the laners behind. (The first 1-3 minions' XP is a big power gap early levels). And I just think leashes should be abolished in one way or another.

EDIT: Many people are saying leashes aren't neccessary. Try not leashing in your next game. See if your jg will

A) Never gank your lane or help you at all B) AFK

Leashes are a player-made experience. They are not required in any fashion, but it helps your team when your jungler can do what they do quicker. If you're leashing too long that's your own fault, you need to calculate how much HP the camp has before you leave so you don't end up losing EXP. If you're missing 3 minions that's your own fault 100%.

Nerfing the camps would allow a lot of champs you don't want to see in the jungle be able jungle. That first clear is the hardest and really defines who can be a successful jungle champ. If anyone can do it then the role will become just another lane.

Leashes are a thing because helping your jungler gets your team ahead over the other team. Which is why the other team also does it.

Feel free to not do it. But the extra time and hp/mana it will cost your jungler will set back your entire team.

Some don't need one in fact. Specifically Shaco and champs that can start Raptors like Kayn or Graves.

Leashes aren't as necessary as you may think they are, as most champions can clear their first camp without a leash, but it just speeds the clear up, and saves the jungler health potions

^ Also if youre missing minions because of your leash, you need to stop leashing as long.

As a bot laner (or mid if jungle is starting raptors), there is literally no situation where you should miss the first 3 minions of the wave if you do it right. You must be sticking around too long

Watch any high elo or lcs game and you'll see they get to lane in time

Tell your jg in champ select.
