why do adc nowadays go rapid firecannon first? i have watched pro players like C9 Sneaky and Doublelift. They all did that on a lot of the champions even sivir. i am really confused.

Depends on the Champion For example: Tristana Should always go item 1038 and then immediately rush item 3094 Vayne Usually goes item 3094 first since item 3153 got nerfed hard and isn't a good rush item anymore

In lane the extra damage + range gives you really solid trades that the enemy is probably too far to retaliate against

But champs with high AD ratios like Lucian rush item 3508 so it's not like you get rapid first on every AD

to farm/waveclear easier obviously. as ranged you won't move as much as mele to proc shiv passive as much. and firecannon is just superior in the laning phase.

You use the firecannon passive on the enemy ADC. If you are playing vs team that wants to gank early or teamfight, Rapid is bad, better get some AD.

my guess is poke trades.

the increased range on stacked charges makes it easier to sneak a hit on the enemy adc. just waiting for cait to reach op status again. she was always a lane bully, received a lot of buffs and rapid fire enhanced headshots are guaranteed to hurt.

On MF I always rush Essence Reaver first to make sure my ult is scaling well and can be used (slightly) more frequently. The CDR I get from increasing my crit chance is a good bonus too, and also helps me keep up my E for extra CC during teamfights + zone control in tight spaces.
