Can Hecarim still jungle?

I was playing a game earlier and figured I would try out Hecarim in the jungle. I hadn't played him for a while, but he was one of my favorites back in Season 2, so I figured it would go alright. Then I took forever clearing a single buff and had to back after another camp, and continued to have to back every 2-3 jungle camps. Even with the upgraded jungle item I was still taking a beating from the monsters and it felt like I was dealing no damage whatsoever. Am I doing something wrong or is Hecarim really this bad now?

I seen people do fine with him. Frankly, the new jungle is hard on everyone with no sustain. If you are really struggling with gold, ask someone to play Yasuo mid or another champion Hecarim syngergizes well with, and gank. Use the kill/assist gold to put yourself ahead.
