cons of gangplank rework
hi. i feel like i will lose a strong suppport champion with this new rework of gangplank. i will explain how i play gangplank, and then i will explainwhy i think that he has a better role this way in league of legends.
i play gangplank as a steroid provider support champion. kinda like nunu backdays... the whole idea is to carry the game with powerfull aura, namely zeke's herald + raise morale, allowing the team to secure global objectives faster, and have slightly more attack damage potential in team fights. for this, gangplank should get taky items after zeke's, to ensure he stays alive the whole team fight to provide the aura. besides the steroid, gangplank has a global range CC ability, his ultimate, which can be used for zoning purposes or saving allies. his ultimate can be used as a "split pushing" tool as well, casting it at the right time to completely clear enemy minions and force allied minions to push/attack a turret. gangplank's biggest weakness is his lack of hard CC, but i think it's only a laning phase weakness.
in my opinion, steroid provider support is a viable role in league of legends. and besides this, gangplank has a global range tool that gives him global presence/pressure potential. he is unique in this playstyle.
with this rework, i am insecure about the viability of the new gangplank support. but i will try it with relic's shield and see if it is possible to grow his ulti, ocasionally last hiting minions with Q.
EDIT: gangplank top is just one more damage oriented champion. what is better for champion diversity, one more champion for a common role, or a different playstyle?
EDIT 2: gangplank has chase potential as well, and with 40% CDR it is certain that he will land 3 parrleys to cut down his enemy movement speed.
