Question about ranked and preseason

Hey everyone, I have a quick question about ranked in League of Legends.

So preseason 6 and season 6 are the first seasons I have played ranked in. Today the update which kicked off season 6 was released but I was confused because when I checked my rank, I was still Silver 5 like I was in the preseason. During the preseason I was almost never able to duo queue with anyone, and I got really unlucky with the teams I was put on. Thus resulting in me being placed in silver.

Anyways, I was mostly just playing the preseason to gain some ranked experience and figure out what roles I am best at to main, so I didn't stress too much about my rank. But now that I've had some ranked experience and the preseason is over, I am eager to take ranked more seriously, and I think I could at least place in gold if I tried.

So my question is, does your preseason rank carry over to the actual season? If so, is there any way I can reset it and do new placement games to determine my rank again? If there isn't a way to reset it, will it be as hard to move up divisions as it was in the preseason?

I would hate to be stuck in silver, cause thats kinda lame ya feel?

Your preseason rank kind of carrys over. Basically whatever your mmr is (or rank) at the end of preseason is what your mmr starts at when you start placements. But you will get an actual new rank after playing 10 placements games. Each season starts with a rank reset, drop, cant think of a good word. So don't be suprrised if you drop in rank (you are basically supposed to as it forces players to climb). Like challenger, master, high diamond players best rank they can receive is Plat 1 to start the season (if the same as in the past).

Ex: You are silver 5 after preseason. You go 6-4 in placements. Starting season 6 rank most likely bronze 1 or 2.

your rank of "silver 5" is just a pre-season rank. The new dynamic que was JUST released and will be the new format for ranked play if all goes well. With that being said you have till the 20th to practice in normals/pre-season with this new queue before season 6 truly begins ranked wise. When that happens you will have to once again do your 10 placement games but you can que with up to 5 people instead of max of 2.

Other personal examples: I ended season 4 in silver 3. went 7-3 in my placement games and got silver 5 to start season 5. One buddy was gold 4, went 6-4 and got silver 2. Another friend was gold 5 went 10-0 and got gold 3.
