Question about individual performance in relation to MMR and elo

I just have a straight forward question. I can't seem to find the answer without wading through paragraphs of rocket science. Does your INDIVIDUAL performance affect your MMR or elo rating? It seems to be more win/loss based to me. I've noticed that even if I carry a team and do extremely well if we lose there's basically no reward. Could someone please explain this to me in plain english? Thanks in advance.

Yeah if you win you gain LP. If you lose you lose LP.

You will get games with good teammates. You will get games with bad teammates. There will be games you carry. There will be games you get carried.

The general rule is that the higher your skill level is, the more likely it is that you will win the game. Note that I didn't say guaranteed. The fact that LCS smurfs have to drop a few games when smurfing shows that you just get truly shitty luck with matchmaking sometimes.

Hmm alright. That's what I thought but I wasn't sure. So is that the same in normals? You get paired with teammates with similar performance as far as wins/losses go?

I'm sure you know what MMR is at this point. Most queues have separate MMRs as far as I know.

Blind Norms, Draft Norms, and Teambuilder share MMR. Not too sure about the last one.

Ranked Solo queue and Ranked teams share some MMR.

ARAM has its own MMR.

Twisted Treeline has its own MMR.

Dominion has its own MMR.

So yes. It is entirely possible for you to play with Challengers in normals but have like a Silver MMR in ranked.
