How to effectively fit in with the meta

Honestly? You don't. In my experience, you adapt with your team. In champion select, you just select someone who works well with your team comp. Using bot lane as an example would be best.

A squishy damage dealer is generally the ADC, very rarely will they build any defense. In the current meta this isn't really going to change much. Your support choice should depend on your team. If you've got a FioraFiora top, XerathXerath mid, and YiMasterYi jungle, your best choice for support would likely be a tank. (Blitzcrank Alistar Leona ) If your top and/or jungle is building tanky, you may be better off playing an enchanter (Sona Janna Soraka ) This will vary game to game, and isn't expected to counter any meta.

The Tank meta usually follows the Assassin meta which usually follows the ADC meta which also usually follows the assassin meta followed by the tank meta... you get the picture. You don't counter any meta by countering it. You just shift and make it more complicated. I'm not saying every team should consist of the same types of champions, but you don't want 3 assassins an adc and a support. Variety in a team is key to countering a meta.

and those of you who play 4 tank teamsFiora Sejuani Galio Draven Blitzcrank ..... just go... [sg-shisa]

Or, you pick Mordekaiser every game and you win every game because you're HEAVY AND METAL

CAN'T BE OUT OF META WHEN YOU DON'T FIT INTO A PROPER CLASS
