Why is Zac so underplayed?

So I main Zac and he is extremely fun and pretty OP. I don't understand why people don't play him more. So build Zac either tanky making him impossible to kill because of passive or full ap and two shot everyone. This champion needs to be played more

I don't have Zac yet. D:

Think it is just because other tanks are easier to play and have a more reliable engage (amumu malphite)

Zac is a tank/fighter that relies on items to be tanky and both defensive scaling and itemization aren't that strong right now. He's not like an Amumu, Malph, Naut, or Leona that can initiate mid game on little to no gold income.

He doesn't offer more damage, CC, or tankiness than other tanks, particularly early-mid game. His initiation is god-tier though. For Zac to come back, Riot will have to either buff his early game sustain or make pure armor/mr good again. I'm betting on the former since defensive itemization hasn't really been strong since season 2 ended.

None of the health cost champions are doing particularly well right now to be honest. Vlad is probably doing the best out of all of them and that's because he can build mostly damage and get away with it.

I honestly don't know why people don't pick him more.

He has:

  1. High sustain, both in jungle clearing and in fights.
  2. Has a passive that lets him dive and even die without actually dying if his team is there.
  3. Has really good mobility.
  4. Has very good sustained %HP damage.
  5. Has tons of AOE CC on a low cooldown, including 2 knockups and a slow.
  6. Doesn't use any mana.
  7. Has godly ganks if you can land E.
  8. Has amazing initiation that has HUGE range.
  9. Extremely hard to kill, and can 1v2 if he picks up his blobs well, can even 1v3 if fed.
