Promo for Silver 1 against Plat 4????
So i was promo for silver 1 and i was against plat 4 main Zed(and zed was unbanned because i had to ban urgot). So i wonder, what is Riot doing exactly huh? Is this matchmaking some kinda of a joke??

How is this healthy for low elo players..Its just creates frustration nothing more.
I was silver 3 up til preseason, I've failed my Bronze > Silver promos twice now. I don't think im ever getting out of this hell hole
lol im mid gold on my main account but one of my murfs took 4 tries to do b1-s4. i peaked in plat 2 seasons ago but the match making is just on crack right now. One match i had like 9 kills mid and a massive cs lead but we somehow had a 30% win rate bronze 3 adc and a 50% wr be2 sup vs a silver 1 vayne with 73% wr and a 68%s2 wr braum. That vayne had 18 kills at the 20 min mark. Then on one of my accounts i won 6/7 placement matches with 8/cs min avg and 6+ kda and it placed bronze 4. Worst part was my gf's account. Sh ended up silver 2 last season as a sup main, placed bronze 1 then had to do promos 7 times because it kept matching her with her old mmr. So instead of actually playing against bronze players in bronze she played high silver to low gold so idk how shes expected to climb when shes getting matched in her normal mmr where she shouldnt have a high win rate. Ended up having to duo it when her to get her out it was bad
Alot of plat players belong in silver, that dude more then likely has terrible mmr hence why he was in your game
MMR is trash. Players should be matched by League (elo) not MMR.
Just saw a gold player who went against 3 diamonds in his promotion to plat 5. If he had win that game, he should be put in diamond then, not plat.
It is ridiculous how the actual matchmaking works. The one who had the idea of creating a 50% forced WR is even more r%%%%%ed. Why does some Riot employees have to be so dumb? And the other don't even notice. They are like: "It is fine, do whatever you want" And then we have this...
And that plat4 player with 60% win rate over 175 games (in case someone tries to say his mmr must have been super low) was premade with their gold4 jungler. So the system deliberately put a plat+gold premade (+another gold player) against a team of 4 silvers and a 50% WR gold4 player.
This is fine. Matchmaking is fair. :)
Riot: Why are you upset? According to our data the game is great We: shows this post Riot: suprisedpikachu.jpeg
Obviously riot said: "we think you a silver player are good as a plat player because I mean have you seen plat? It's like silver but with just shinny emblem"
but all seriousness that isn't fair. They seem to do that for almost all promo games
lol my promos to gold 4 i had a 35% win rate bronze 3 ezreal bot feed 18 kills in game one, and he was against a gold 1 75% win rate jinx. Match making balance is a joke right now
I feel you. Had a bronze level 30 Jinx in gold 3 games. She kept trying to facecheck bushes that we pinged that someone was in -_-
All other considerations aside, if the game wouldn't let you duo queue with a player because their rank difference is too great, then it also shouldn't let you face that person as your opponent. There is no situation where a system that says "You can't play with this person, that would be unfair" should ever let you play AGAINST that person.
Just further proof the game is dying unlike many claim. Riots player numbers are just bullshit.
There aren't even enough players for Matchmaking to work properly anymore.
As a heads up there are only 750,000 people on the NA ranked ladder, 1.3M for the EUW ladder, 600,000 for EUNE, and 2m for Korea. That's including all the smurf accounts.
I remember being in bronze 1 in season 6 on NA and being ranked 1.3M something. So yeh Riots full of shit when they say they aren't losing players in droves. At least in NA well over half the ranked playing player base has quit in the past 3 seasons. I'd imagine it's only worse for the non-ranked full casual players, who have much less invested into the game.
I few years ago you could go about anywhere and run into a League player.... these days all I get is "I remember that game", or "yeh I used to play that."
Thats because they are not making the game to how we like to play. NA could fall off to 0 and the Asian markets will pick up the slack
What I found more interesting was the zeds account. He's doing "really well" this season considering his previous seasons... and somehow... playing in way low an elo than his stats would imply he should. You think you got it rough? There are multiple silver 4's in his match history. Almost none of his games are actually plat games but he's 60% w/r plat? Hmmm, somethin don't smell right.
Thats insane
This has ALWAYS been a thing, last time I tryharded and was in silver 1 promos to gold repeatedly I was seeing mostly plat/high gold. If anything it's not as bad as it used to be...
Best to just play casual, even in ranked. You'll be a lot happier.

I mean, its now april 1st in Europe...
So maybe it is an april fools joke.
Only problem is, the fool is riot who thinks this is ok every other day of the year.
did ya win ?
did ya win ?
Ofc not dude, zed was always in my jungle and our mid, veigar, was perma dead :/
Yeah, he wasn't the brightest either, taking tp instead of barrier lol
Wouldn't matter in Silver I. Even if Zed didn't kill mid, he would have just roamed to get kills.
Had a D IV Zed in Silver II about 2 weeks ago. I died to him twice the entire game, and killed him 3 times. My Team died to him 16 other times. When he realized he couldn't outright win vs my morg, he starting going top and getting cheese kills off the Tryndamere, who really couldn't do anything to stop Ignite/massive damage delayed until after his ult. Then he'd go bot etc etc.
Wasn't much I as Morgana could do except kill him when he tried to all in ME..... he's pretty much free to roam all game because of Youmuu's, and doesn't have extremely high energy costs/cooldowns, and Living Shadow can now be procced a full screen away......
You just got to feel the impact of duo boosting first hand, unfortunately nothing will be done.
In my opinion MMR is a dumb ass way to match people against others. You should be playing AT ALL TIMES with people within a respectable range of LP with you AT YOUR OWN TIER.
"Oh but a silver 1 player and a gold 4 player arent very different in regards to their skill!"
WRONG! A Silver 1 player and a Gold 4 player may be on the same level mechanically, but the Gold 4 player who actually managed to climb out will have a better understand of the little aspects of the game such as XP, lane manipulation, objective control, ect.
I feel ya but nothing can be done really, that plati guy was almost certainly playing a duo with one of the gold players.

I already wrote he was. but how does it change anything to allow a situation like this?
Why it is allowed is simple and a thoughtless question that anyone could answer with a little thought, shortly put, playing with friends is fun, so having minimal restrictions to make it work is the best.
However asking if the benefits for it are truly enough to measure up for the losses suffered elsewhere is another question and this is one i´ve seen people argue about endlessly.

What's also "simple and thoughtless that anyone would know with a little thought" is that the premade duos should be considered by matchmaking system as the higher rank from the two people playing together. Which means a "plat+gold" premade should get matchmaking for two players with plat rank. And even without that, how exactly does it make sense to match a plat+gold+gold players against 4 silvers and one gold4 team?
Shortly put, you've tried to be a smartass with some backhanded answer and yet you didn't even understand the question. What's sad is even if your interpretation of said question was correct, the answer you came up with still make no sense.

wtf are you even talking about here...

You might have had a point there but that would conflict with the MMR system instead, a gold 4 isnt ready to play against plats but higher silvers can play against golds, especially if that gold and even the plati has a low MMR/winrate.
However i am truly a bit confused, i found the game i believe to the the one in question on OP.GG but OP has 1 more gold on his team and that guy isnt level 27, that guy is level 127 and he is gold 3 with a 56% winrate over his last 10.......i will assume some bug occurred.
Here´s a link to a profile that only has that game in its history at this time, should be easy enough to verify or look around as you please :
https://euw.op.gg/summoner/userName=Imp+Punchliner
But team ranks, level and a average winrate comparison.
Upper premade = lvl 64 plati 4 48% winrate over the last 28. Lower premade = 71 gold 4 with 41% winrate over his last 29 games. Lvl 90 gold 60% winrate last 10. Lvl 61 silver 1 40% winrate 10 games. Lvl 61 silver 1 60% winrate last 10.
Average winrate = 49,8.
vs.
OP = lvl 57 silver 2 60% winrate last 10 at the time. Lvl 35 silver 1 with 50% winrate last 10 at the time. Lvl 38 Silver 1 with no recent history but 58% overall winrate (ace on the team according to OP.gg) Lvl 42 gold 4 50% winrate over the last 6 and 51 overall. Lvl 127 gold 56% winrate over his last 10 and even 75% in his last 28,
Average winrate = 54,8.
So the game figured OPs team to overall have a good winrate and judged their MMR to be high, meanwhile it judged the premade duo´s team to have a poor winrate despite their high ranks and it gave them a low one.
Thats how the two met.
wtf are you even talking about here...
....In simple English, i stated that asking if the perceived benefits for letting people with such a difference between them play together in the current system that evaluates such a pair at a lower MMR is worth the "cost" of causing those truly at that lower MMR the misery of having to play against that pair....well mainly the higher ranked one of the two.
Sure the one with the higher rank might have lost a fair lot recently in gold elo but that doesnt mean he wont eat a few silver guys ready to rank up to low gold in a few bites which makes the competition pretty unfair, however it was probably made possible by the fact that many on OPs team had a good winstreak at the time.
Those winstreaks is what caused the system to give them the high evaluation, which together with the duo+the rest having a overall low evaluation made the two teams met.
But a mildly intoxicated and malnourished bear is still bigger and tougher than a large strong wolf, which in my mind is a apt comparision for the teams here.
Naturally the bear just lands one hit and its kinda done for the wolf, no real fight at all.....doesnt matter if the bear cant fight other bears it still cant be beaten by a wolf.
You wanna have fun with a friend who's a different ELO to you, go to; it's literally what they're for....
The matchmaking system does accommodate the difference in MMR pretty well actually, problem is it seems to look at it in a very short term way which causes people having winstreaks to shoot up very rapidly and get thrown into games they might not be ready for in reality, even if the MMR they got from winning that heap of games in a row says that they are.
So basically the idea isnt bad, problem is the MMR measuring system is wonky at best and completely unreliable at worst.
Entirely true, but not what is being discussed. If we're going to have this strange 2-tier system of MMR AND Divisions, people with entire Divisions between them should not be in the same Ranked game, irrespective of 'oh, but I wanted to play with my buddy...'
Yeah as it is now its too liable to fail and cause frustrations, if the MMR checker was more detailed and strict perhaps it would be alright most of the time but its indeed too unreliable at this time.
Well i am still all for being able to play with ones friends even with such a difference but not if the matchmaking cant accommodate it in a better way so to write.
One word that everyone seems to forget. MMR
he probably has low mmr, maybe a lower level duo, and you might have a high to mid range mmr. Get over it, this is normal. These posts are getting old.

No, he doesn't. Also level is irrelevant. Maybe look into the situation before commenting some irrelevant crap.
Never mentioned levels. And duos can also lower his rank down. So why plat with silvers? Well you do have golds. Plat is not that far off. And it's only plat 4. The bottom of platinum. And 90% of the time they aren't even the best person in the game. I had a masters in one of my games for whatever reason, mmr, duo, or whatever the reason, and he did almost the worst.

I never said mmr is irrelevant, learn to read before you start smashing your keyboard.
Never mentioned freakin levels brah. Take your own advice.
And even if i "did" then maybe pay attention to context. Lower level duo would mean lower rank since y'know.. we're speaking about ranks and ranks are levels.

I pay attention to the words that have a set meaning. The context changes nothing when you write seperately about mmr and levels, it's not on me when you can't type out your thoughts in a coherent manner, but keep making excuses.

I think it was pretty obvious he meant rank when he said levels, it's not that hard to understand... maybe for you..

You feelin' fine, mate?
I'll make this simple.
Plat 4 on a losing streak = potentially Gold 3 MMR
Silver 1 on a winning streak = potentially Gold 2 MMR
That's why.
I'll make this simple.

Plat player's 6 games before OP's match consisted 2 losses and 4 wins (so OP's game was 5th), while he had a 60% WR over 175 games. He also went from S1 to P4 in the past month. Does it really look like a weak mmr account? Can't be 100% sure, but I wouldn't say it does?
On a sidenote, it's also yet another example that a double rating system in which you're matched by one (mmr) and rewarded by another (actual rank) isn't the best idea, because it just makes everything less transparent for the players and covers up a potentially terrible mm in some of the games.
