True damage is game breaking asf tbh

It's pretty much the sole reason champs like fiora and irelia feel so oppressive to play against. I mean at least darius has his true damage hidden behind a high cooldown ultimate (assuming he doesn't get a reset on it of course), but to give a champion true damage in their very basic attacks/abiltiies? True damage for all intents and purposes, has literally 0 counter play to it. Obviously armor can't stop it. You know how awkward it is when you are a bruiser forced to build tank vs a fiora and then she can just 100-0 you anyway when no other champion in the game functions like that? Even tryndamere can't reliably kill a malphite if he goes thornmail, but wtf does fiora have to worry about on this front?

Look, the point of this post is true damage should be gated by high cooldowns and limitations, not something so accessible that you just ignore tanks completely. It's pretty anti-fun to play against, having no way to itemize against it and all. It would actually make more sense if fiora dealt crit damage instead because at least a randuins can sorta help out with that ya know? Kinda ramblin by there ya go matey's!

True damage does have counterplay under normal conditions (I'm not going to consider Fiora or Vayne's normal, rather it's %health based like how certain champions have physical/magical %health based damage). It's called health.

Olaf and Darius true damage is just a flat number (though Darius gets more depending on his passive if I remember correctly). The more health you have, the less painful their true damage is. Irelia's true damage is also a flat amount, so building health counters that.

Fiora does % true damage so no matter how much HP or armor you have it will still hurt the same (similar to vayne). Irelia damage can somewhat be mitigated with HP since it is a flat amount thou

is rushing a warmogs actually a thing, like a viable thing to do as a bruiser vs irelia?

You know true damage such as vaynes and fiora scale right .So the more health you build the more it counters you for that champ..

Indeed but still a good idea.

ironically the most balanced or underpowered true damage champs have always been the ones you are complaining about.

Irelia's issue isn't her true damage on its own.

You know what else is anti fun? That full tank malphite who kills you every fight because you can't do jacks hit against him despite your build being only damage items.

True damage is game breaking asf tbh.

Considering some champions have low bases and high scalings and others have high bases and low scalings: True damage isn't game breaking.

It's just another way of adding high bases/low scaling into the game, softening a level/itemization disparity to an extent and causing some damage to treat both the attacker and defender as though there's no, or little, level and item difference between the 2.

true damage for all intents and purposes, has literally 0 counter play to it.

Counterplay doesn't exclusively mean counterbuilding.

In the most basic sense It means setting up mechanics so that players have multiple options to deal with it.

Vs. a sustained-DPS champion like Fiora that needs to strike you 4 times from 4 different angeles, anything you can do to prevent her from striking you 4 times and from every direction is a counter to that playstyle, or form of counterplay. And using the collision map, crowd-control, making some distance to wait out the effect, combo-bursting her before she can finish the effect, or slowing her rate of attack are all methods to counter her playstyle and reduce her damage output: %HP true damage or no.
