You're not listening to your players and looking only at numbers again, Riot (Twisted Treeline)

Wıck··20 votes·4,014 views

You keep going on about low player count in the gamemode yet you haven't done anything significant with it.

ARAM had events, specific balance and WAY more attention put into and you're surprised TT has a lower population?

Do something with the gamemode for the people that love playing it AND for those that don't, actually make an effort pulling people in. Map-specific events, even speed up gold-earning like in ARAM or Nexus Blitz, anything.

People were excited to see an announcement regarding TT, finally another gamemode getting some attention, could they finally at least give it ARAM-level attention?

But no, a big slap in the face by a company focused on the numbers, thanks.

We were hoping for you to spice up the gamemode, not delete it. We don't want that.

And even when they did something the numbers were low. You keep talking about how theyre not listening when the reality is YOU arent showing them. You dont get to put this on them. I deal with this shit all the time at work. "Why dont you sell x anymore?" Well, karen, because when i did make it and did stock it, YOU didnt buy it.

Im not gunna spend hours making a product for it to not sell because someone wamts me to have it on stock for them not to buy.

but why remove the mode in general? seems like their dicking over the people that do enjoy it to save a few bucks because their too lazy to put in the extra bit of effort, there is a reason league has fallen so far from it's former glory...it's because they got a taste of those big lcs monies and don't want to work on anything else unless it's gonna make them money from the competitive scene (TFT will most likely be monetized with its own version of the lcs)

Takes up design space. My assumption is that theyre designing something else to use that space.

Just like every company does Also, another comment addressed the "TT is dead because it wasnt updated", even when it was updated it saw no growth in players "However, Treeline has always suffered from low queue sizes, even in times when we added new items, map-specific champion balance, and even the Twisted Treeline redesign waaayy back in 2012." - Riot.

Bcause the redisign was a down grade.

JackMcCarry2 votes

That's a good deflection. "Riot neglected the mode that's why it died" "But even when they updated it people didnt care" "Oh that's because update bad"

You realise it doesnt matter right? ARAM and SR had bad updates aswell, difference is people cared and made it known, on TT, this is literally the first time i hear that the redesign was bad, did you see the mess of old TT? Regardless, if people cared, Riot would keep supporting the mode, people didnt, not back then, not now, it never had it's "glory days".

There were multiple threads about it on the forums. Once we switched over to boards, and Riot removed the "Maps & Modes" section, it has been very difficult to discuss anything not related to SR, which in turn makes it easy for them to remove alternative modes they don't want to support, while bringing up some BS statistics and saying no one plays and/or cares about them.

They've planned to get rid of the mode for years most likely, with all the little things they done to make sure it remains obscure, that few have paid attention to.

They address that in the dev post.

"However, Treeline has always suffered from low queue sizes, even in times when we added new items, map-specific champion balance, and even the Twisted Treeline redesign waaayy back in 2012."

"We debated on whether an ARAM-esque level of support would bring it up to standard, but the lack of growth from the previous efforts we mentioned led us to the conclusion that it just wouldn’t be enough to make Treeline a healthy long-term mode."

Sorry to break it to you, but focusing on the numbers is the right thing to do for a company.

What people say in here in the boards doesn't really matter all that much, since we are the vocal minority. If you really want to make decisions the majority of the playerbase benefits from, then you have to focus on surveys and statistics. That's just how this works.

Also: Making an event with TT specific missions will most likely not lure many people into the game mode. I could imagine that the majority of people would do what I am doing in these situations: play the game mode until the missions are finished for the rewards, then go back to Summoner's Rift and ignore TT again until they "force" me to play the mode again for free loot.

I know it sucks for the people who liked the game mode, but if it really is as unpopular as Riot tells us, then deleting it to make room for other stuff is the right call here.

Lovelle2 votes

Hate to break to you, but there won't be any other stuff. They made the exact same promise when they removed Dominion back in 2014, and look at all the game mode variety we have now to make up for it. Look at how many people have been happy with Riot's SR and ARAM balance changes/updates. A tiger doesn't change its stripes, things are not going to get better.

Erm, I never said there is going to be other stuff, tho?

More bot accounts played TT than actual players

in low elo. once you get past bronze it basically goes away

Lovelle2 votes

This. I've literally never seen a bot in a normal game and I've been playing 3v3 near exclusively since 2011.

Inspector Talon1 votes

same tho LOL. its easy to climb past bot mmr so basically these people just dont grind and play a few games and say "so many fking bots huge issue oh no delete the mode fking hell rip"

This is not true. It's just that you rarely play TT, so your TT MMR is low, so you get queued with bots.

If you make a new account, your first dozen or so games of SR and ARAM will also have many bots.

They haven't done anything significant with it because TT has always been the secondary mode. Obviously resources will be put towards Summoners Rift first.

Furthermore, no matter what they do, people just don't play TT. Why should they spend days of work doing anything for a mode that is played by so few people, when they could spend that time balancing or bugfixing SR?

Inspector Talon4 votes

it WAS the secondary game mode... until aram got more resources. now its the tertiary game mode.

Lovelle2 votes

I can see those "resources" for Summoner's Rift have been put to good use.

TT is only good for hexakill.
