Why is okay to not try to win or play well only because you wont visibly have some rank assigned to you if you did? By that logic I should AFK because "its just normals" and I don't need to play.

normals are for fun (and to learn the champion for those unwilling to practice; in the practice tool, custom matches, or just read the wiki page) and not for playing to win.
you want to play to win, go to ranked.

Why do people quote a phrase and then ask why it is okay? Who says it's okay? Do you have a real quote with a source?
This trend needs to stop. We all know it's not okay to throw a game just because of your queue type, don't try to pass it off like some people do.
