Matchmaking

This has been an issue for as long as I can remember, since the day I picked this game up. Every game, teams are so incredibly unbalanced, it is almost always in favor of one or the other, never is there a fair game. Matchmaking is much like that of Battlefields, put all the good people on one team and the bad people on another. How this is fun, I have no clue. No matter what side I am on, it isn't fun.

Posting this is probably the most redundant and pointless thing I can do, because all that will happen is fanboys will get butthurt and this will never make it to anyone's attention despite the obvious problem. Matchmaking needs to be reworked from the ground up, and I know damn well it is possible to have a better system. I have played many games where teams were evenly balanced per skill level and games came down to that skill. In League, it only comes down to which team has the more skilled players, because out of a 100 games, I have seen maybe 5 that were actually fair and balanced and came down to how well the team worked together to win. The rest, nothing but afk, feeders, trolls, etc. You want a game where people support it and continue playing it, fix "elo hell." It can be fixed by simply reworking the entire matchmaking system. the current one is nothing but how lucky can you get? If you aren't lucky enough, down to elo hell you go and there is no getting out. The only time you get out is if you get lucky as all hell. I have seen bronze players crush gold/plats in customs, outplaying, outcsing, the whole nine yards, but when I duo q with them, the teams we get are full retard tower diving and not working as a team.

You know why this is only an issue in lower elo? because there are so few in higher elo compared to the lower elo that if you make it that far, it is actually skilled players that know what to do in most every situation. In lower elo, you see game after game of players not knowing what to do, how to build, or just making the same mistakes over and over again. This is what costs players game after game when they get placed with this every time. One team will ultimately be better, and the other team has no hope at all. Matches are not decided at champion select, or even in the lanes. They are already decided when you click accept and first meet your team.

So my question to you, Riot, how do you expect me to play a game that suppresses a vast majority into the lower elo (Which elo is a bullshit system anyway). The only answer I see is to not play the game, and despite how much I have enjoyed league, if this is not addressed, there is no reason at all to continue playing a free game. In my experience, every free game is the same. I have come to expect much of the same from free games, and its disappointing to see that any game should suffer because of bad prioritization. This is my final post, this is my goodbye to just another game not worth the effort. Maybe in the future, other players can benefit from such changes, but I will not be there to see them, IF they ever even happen, which I doubt.

If I sound pissed, or salty as every other person now says, its because I am tired of seeing this every game. I want a game that is actually balanced, not in the gameplay, but in the matchmaking. I want to see fair teams fight one another like you would see if you spectate ranked diamond games. There are far less people in diamond than in bronze, so why is it so hard to match evenly skilled players in lower elo?

Every system is flawed, it just takes the better person to admit their system is flawed and improve on it.

I'm not 100% certain your beef is with matchmaking.

I think your beef is with just how ridiculous the snowballing in this game is.

Seriously I think everyone has had that game where someone on their team fed the enemy Master Yi/Katarina/Akali/Nasus/Yasuo/ADC/whoever and then they just went on to crush everyone.

That's really the problem... once you start getting a lead it becomes more difficult for your lane opponent to do anything, and the lanes are far enough apart that it is difficult for teammates to help each other. That then leads to whoever was ahead using their lead to get further ahead, and you get a vicious loop. Then when laning ends one team has someone who is far more powerful than anyone else and they can use their advantage to win fights, get objectives, and basically get the rest of their team ahead of the enemy team and it turns into a one sided stomp.

It's not so much that all the good people are on one team and all the bad people are on another. It's just the mechanics behind gold/exp gains interacting with the map.

I see what you mean about matchmaking; I made a thread about this a while ago and it got zero attention; I even included a possible solution! After some point, even before you get to tiered (like I am now, not tiered) it's insanely hard to get a good match. A friend of mine had played for a while and started a new account to get back into the swing of things (he had lost a lot of his skills and reflexes from his lv 30 account) and man did it become really apparent how terrible matchmaking is. He won a couple of games, and didn't even have half the summoner spells and he was against people using flash/ignite (this was back before preseason started, so they had to have been lv 12) when my friend was only lv 6. So that's busted. And not to mention that an elo system may not be best for league of legends; after all, the elo system was made for chess (but is very applicable to any single player vs single player sport). And that's the key; league is team on team. If you have five people and just one of them is trolling and feeding hard core, you're probably going to lose, despite how well you may be doing. You could have steamrolled your top lane, bot could have annihilated, but if your mid feeds the Yi for the first 10 minutes, it's pretty much over.

I agree, it's not necessarily the champions, matchmaking could use some reworking. If you're with people of even skill on both sides (relatively) you should be able to out play the other team; no champion is unbeatable. Only rarely, you should be paired with people of a different skill level to you, and same goes for the other team; in theory, you should occasionally go against a team that is vastly superior to yours, paired with a team that is vastly under your skill level and vice-versa in both scenarios.
