Champ Select - Pros and Cons Discussion
I'm creating this thread in order to discuss the issues the new champ select fixes and others that it has created and made worse. I think it is important to first thank Riot in attempting to make the game better for us all and the fact they constantly fix and update the content they have created.
PROS -Champ select looks very modern and very visually pleasing. Very nice update to the interface.
-Selection of Champions and Bans creates a positive on the trolling that plagues champion selection. People can select their roles beforehand and are more likely to work with the team during gameplay.
-Bans are not for one person to decide. Multiple people take part. Less chance for trolling.
-Due to the fact you select TWO roles before the game allows the community as a whole grow by learning roles that they don't play as often or have the chance to play as much.
-The shadow feature which allows your team to see the champs you're wanting to play and hides that info from the enemy team. Allows for bans to be adjusted accordingly.
CONS
-Time in champ select is ridiculously long. If people forget to lock in a ban then they force the whole team to be put back into matchmaking. I personally just spent 20 minutes attempting to get in a game because of this.
-Needs better notification you are banning and required to lock in a ban. I was making a mastery page and didn't realize it was my turn.
-Time Penalties for not banning a champion causes frustration especially when you were not aware it was your turn. Perhaps time penalties can start lower at 1 minute or 2 and gradually increasing over time.
-Seems like there are too many steps in the process. If It could be more streamlined to lower the chance of someone not banning or locking in then it would decrease the amount of time returning to matchmaking.
This is all I have for now. If anyone else has any pros or cons to add please do so. I'd like Riot to be able to adjust the new champion selection if it will benefit the community to do so however we have to provide them with information. Thanks for reading
