Requesting Starter Assistance
This is a request for someone who would be willing to impart a bit of knowledge to me every so often.
This is my first time actually touching League of Legends since I heard about it a couple of years ago, but not my first time playing a MOBA. I used to play DotA every so often, but was never too good at it. It was overly complicated to me and the characters weren't very lively. But everything about the characters in League and the way the game is played in general makes me enjoy it. At least when other people aren't being unnecessarily mean. I would like to be good at this game. The only problem is, I have absolutely no idea how and freely admit it. My brother is apparently very good, but refuses to help me. That's why I'm asking for someone to lend me a few tips here and there, or possibly be a bit of a mentor whenever we happen to be online at once and you are not bothered by something else. It's nothing committal at all. I'd like to think I'm modest and can comprehend the concept of criticism, so I hope the fear of me being a bratty attention beggar isn't a real one, considering those bad types of people do exist.
For the sake of being honest out of the idea that friends can be made from these sorts of things, I am a girl, but that shouldn't have any bearing on me wanting to be the best player I can be. That fact is actually why my brother tells me he won't help me because I'll simply "Get angry and tell him to stop being a jerk." if he gives me harsh criticism. I know that there are a good amount of girls who play these games for the social acceptance and attention rather than actually being competitive or wanting to improve, but I greatly dislike that kind of interaction and most other people in general as it is. I do not care where the teaching comes from and not even necessarily how it is applied. I'd simply like to be a decent League of Legends player and am finding it very difficult to do so on my own considering everyone I've asked in an actual game has either said nothing or given me a joking comment whenever I ask a question regarding self-critique.
Thank you very much for taking your time to read. If you know the game very well and you find it's worth your time to help me, do reply to this thread and we can add one another. This entire post might seem a little dramatic for learning how to play a dumb game, but it's important to me.
