Most people end about a tier down (i went from g5 to s5). Same as last year. Idk why people are shocked every year.
then theres no point in these provisionals they might as well start you 1 tier down every year
Well my friend that is a whole different debate. I'm not saying how they do it is right. Personally i don't like the MMR system to begin with. But i don't see anything changing anytime soon.
how is that a different debate??? this is exactly what im talking about?
Because: A.) Who you play against matters. B.) Everyone gets placed a little lower, so they climb back up to where they were in no time. That is, if they belong there; if not, their placement has been corrected. C.) Because your MMR is terrible. It's bad even for Bronze 3. Your play is not at the division you were at. You doing well in your placement matches is probably the reason you didn't get placed even lower.
How can you determine who you play with though?

I don't get what you are asking. You don't choose, matchmaking does?
The point is Destructosaurus was winning, but even if he went 9/10 or even 10/10, he was still only winning against with comparable ratings to him, people who are now in low Bronze 4. Does winning a bunch of games against low Bronze 4 players mean he should be in an even higher division now like Gold because he says he was Silver last season?* Or should he be placed in Bronze 3 because he beat Bronze 4 players?
Footnotes: * (Note: According to the look up, this account of his, Destructosaurus, was Bronze 2 last season, not Silver 4.)
right when the season ended it was in bronze because i played norms mostly but up until the reset i was in silver
I think he means that why should his past season influence his new one? What is the point of a reset then.

I don't see that in what he wrote. But the answer is that it doesn't. Your previous season doesn't count, because it got reset. Your MMR, the level you play at which decides who you get matched against, doesn't and that's a good thing. It's good that people are consistently matched against people who play at their level.
I don't know why people are writing like they want their placement not to reflect where they are but instead be solely reflective of the percentage. What's the alternative they are asking for? A person wins 8/10 matches against Bronze 4s, gets placed in Platinum and is then rolfstomped down 12+ divisions? Nobody would want that.
No but the whole MMR shit doesn't take into effect how well you do, just that if you win or not. If you go 20/5 in a match but end up losing due to reasons, your MMR is effected negatively just based on the fact that you lost not how well you were performing. That's why a hard reset would be good. I'm not saying win 10/10 in the provisional matches and get into Gold 1. But winning 8/10 that determine where your gonna start the season and it puts you near the bottom of the barrel is stupid.
What if you played a shit ton of blind pick/team builder before the reset and played almost no ranked. Getting more skilled in the game off the unranked games and coming back to ranked in the new season. Why should your previous season effect your new one.
When the new season begins for professional sports, teams that finish high on the charts last season don't get a boost in points in the new one. And teams that finished low don't get penalized. They all start fresh.
never mind everyone i fixed it, i uninstalled league of legends
