Improvement Request - Character Progression

Hello! To whom it may concern:

Thank you for providing an awesome game to play!

I don't know how much Riot supports modes like Aram and Twisted Treeline or if they are even something Riot wants to support as a format but I enjoy them.
I like looking at stats. I pretty much only play arams now and it saddens me I can't see any character progression made. When you play Summoners Rift you can see your character progression as in what is your level with the characters you have played. I would love to see that kind of stats for the other game zones like Twisted Treeline and Ultra Rapid Fire.

I'm not sure if it would be a storage issue but it would be something that I would enjoy seeing as a fan of League of Legends

PS: I'm not sure where to submit this so if it would be redirected thanks! More cowbell!

And with character progression you mean the Mastery Points System right?

I would also like to see this come to those maps, and even to AI matches, no reason filthy casuals like myself don't get to enjoy Mastery levels and chests and such.

PS: Rito add more champions to the bot games.

I can sorta understand why Riot's hesitant to enable Mastery (and Crafting drops) for Co-op games. It's fairly easy to bully the bots and massively snowball the game, so that would skew post-match grades. It'd be too easy to farm drops using bots.

On the other hand, I don't see a reason why TT and ARAM shouldn't get Mastery and Crafting.

Aren't crafting drops still only given to the top % of players according to champion and role played for your region?

So if you intent to farm bots you better be really good at it or you're still not getting that S rank.

True, it depends on how much effort Riot would be willing to put into it. They'd have to balance new players getting low grades with experienced players getting high grades. There's also the consideration of Co-op games having a more fluid meta than normal games, along with a smaller playerbase to provide data.

It's certainly doable, but the changes required might mean it's on roughly the same scale as enabling Mastery for a completely different map.

I don't understand, what is there to balance? Why would new players and experienced players need balancing?

The only thing that sets bot matches apart is the Jungle role and as a consequence the duo top, that's all that needs to be taken into account.

Plus any unforeseeable shenanigans people get up to because its a bot game, like going all mid or other bullshit. But I have a feeling that such tactics will only end up biting players in their own asses because I've yet to see such weird stuff bare any kind of fruit. XD

If Riot purely expects players to stomp, less experienced players will get horrible grades for regular play. Considering Co-op is essentially considered an advanced tutorial, misleading grades could confuse and discourage new players. On the other hand, if Riot purely expects regular play, more experienced players will get great grades for abusing bot AI and relatively easily farm Crafting drops.

Grades aren't really about expecting players to stomp, its a % system, the performance of all players in a region and the combination of Champion and Role determines your Rank. So your performance is always in relation to the performance of others. (which probably will end up causing bad grades for new players all the same. XD )

I can see new people getting bad grades as being a bad experience but nothing can really change this, this is basically what we already have, new players aren't gonna be getting amazing grades in normal and ranked games anyway so there would basically be no difference.

And even if experienced players are able to abuse bot AI they can still only get 4 chests a month, which they'll probably get anyway since they are experienced and will get the occasional S rank in normals or ranked.

What might be a concern is the amount of Mastery Points gained, but that should be easy enough to tune down to reasonable numbers, perhaps even just a flat % reduction could do the trick.
