Weekly Reminder of "Where the hack are Mordekaiser changes/improvements?" #5 (With Patch Notes!)

Hurray guys!

Mordekaiser has actually recieved a change:

  • Creeping Death [W] - Now cast on nearest allied champion if Mordekaiser shields himself

Well... that's more of a "noob helper" thing. And we still don't know if this is all what we'll get, what plans has Riot. They didn't even put him in the Rework List where even Taric is, which means either that Morde is so far behind in "what to do" that even champions of which they don't even know how to make them look are ahead or that it has been deleted and left in this half-burst half tanky state.

This is my fifth pledge to Riot for giving us and answer about him, just to know what we should expect..

If you buff Morde in any way he just becomes super oppressive. Wait for a rework.

I agree with that. Riot told us long ago (2 months ago) that they were confident in a rework to bring Morde into the Tanky/AP character he was supposed to be, the same that happened with Gragas more or less.

The thing is that Gragas got a minor reduction on self heal and damage while getting better mobility, better damage if well performed and eve better CC. Mordekaiser on the other side was (in the 5.6 PBE) cut down in damage, shield regen was cut too, spell vamp and spirit visage were lowered in contribution (decimated base hp regen and the reduction of damage) plus he was forced to build heavy HP to be even less tanky that it is now.

This made most of Morde player really angry, they reverted the rework leaving the W and Q mini buffs (which are totally worthless apart for the speed buff which is imo anti thematic) and left us with no news about his rework.

What I'm asking here is:

  • Are we done and this is all we get?
  • Are you still going with the presented rework as it is or with minor changes?
  • Are you making his rework anew?

The absolute absence of words from Riot is what I am whining about. And I won't stop unless I get some answers. I already have Jayce left in the "nerfed cause rework inc" (LoL it's been deleted long ango but /care) state and I really don't want this same fate for Mordekaiser since he is my second main.

Morde would require a full rework tho, not just adding Health ratios and whatnot onto his kit like they tried to do on the PBE. That rebalance was actually a nerf in a lot of ways, especially damage.

Morde autopushes without thinking and has no real identity outside of his Passive and Ultimate. He probably needs a Sion Level Rework.

But these keep being mere speculations untill Reds come and say: "Hey guys, Morde is keeping lotsa time cuz the rework is going to be a complete gameplay change, it's gonna take some (not long, not short) time but we are working on it. Cheers"

If they keep silent there is nothing we can assume.

They don't make definitive statements anymore because game development is super iterative and things change often.

But they are talking a lot about Poppy, Urgot and have even shared a list with reworks about Ashe and others.

Edit: while not definitive it's still something. I just want to know what to expect.

Poppy and Urgot are being actively worked on and are confirmed to be coming out soonish. Morde is probably not going to be worked on for at least a year and until then they wont waste their time commenting on him.

Wondering where has the "Xerath approach" gone :S I partecipated in it myself and I still think it's one of the best work done from Riot in terms of communication and work done on the champion.

That was likely a once in a lifetime deal.
