For the love of god fix the way Tristana's jump works with CC

Tarew··86 votes·18,160 views

She shouldn't be jumping away AFTER I GOD DAMN STUN HER. If I stun her she should be, idk, fucking stunned. Stunned shouldn't mean oh I know I was stunned but let me just jump away anyway. It should mean that you're fucking stunned and can't do shit. She already has the highest range in the game AND A KNOCK BACK. Maybe take away an unintended 'feature' that makes her even more obnoxious to deal with.

Every dash and blink in the game works this way. It's just the most noticeable on Tristana because it takes so long.

Blinks and dashes were intended to gap-close and dodge abilities, not ignore the effects of them

Because when tristana rocket jumps out of a blitzcrank hook, she did not dodge it, she basically used an unintended mechanic to ignore the effects of getting grabbed

It was always a bug and always will be. It's just that riot decided to keep it for the sake of giving champions some agency even if they get cc'd

Its an intended mechanic based on how the move works. Rioters have confirmed this before.

Minion block has to exist because otherwise, champions with large models could deny cs just by standing on top of them. You wouldn't be able to attack the minion.

If Darius wants to sit in the minion wave to deny me CS while I Lethal Tempo triple-soldier gangbang him, I'm 100% OK with that

What, buffering a spell at the right time to save yourself? Too early and too late on it you get grabbed. Sorry that a interaction that takes skill and timing is "annoying" to you.

Tbh when you have clips around with tristana getting "out" of a bard Ult with W after she got transformed into a gold statue by it, it doesn't feel like an "outplay" or whatever, it's just a bug. See for yourself.

It pops up in waves. People have complained about it for years off and on, depending on how popular Tristana is at the moment.

The question of should it be intended still stands.

Things like cho W, darius E, etc. used to work on targets that were within the aoe AT TIME OF CASTING even if they got out of the AOE before the animation finished.

Thats just a target selection issue but the interaction with CC remains consistent with what happens when Tristana jumps out of a hook (with the move blocks reversed).

Perhaps because of its legacy with the champ's kit or because of skill expression? They had their chance to remove the delayed move blocks in the reworks for Trist and more recently Ezreal. Galio's and Urgot's reworks even saw new additions of delayed move blocks. I think this feature, as consequence simply of how the game works, is here to stay. Also, while the interaction looks jank its working correctly, so I think they are fine with leaving it in as is without "fixing" it.

if it was unintended, they'd have fixed it years ago. It's intended. Everyone with a dash/jump/blink can do it. Even like... Urgot.

NineTailedMystic2 votes

I don't think it's necessarily intended. More like a byproduct of cast times on abilities that they liked and kept.

Same thing as this = why blitzcrank E knock you up after flashing out of distance and such, Riot has a truly lazy way around some of these mechanics.

wait , hell no , that's the whole point of this thread Why her jump doesn't get cancelled when she gets stunned? she gets stunned after the jump ends while counting the Jump time from the stun duration , same for knock ups

Jerry SeinfeId2 votes

only during her launch animation. if you hit her during the dash itself she gets cc'd normally.

... no they dont.. most dash abilities have no cast time

and the way the game is coded a cast cannot be interrupted but a channel can

( this is most noticeable on very long cast times like Ezreal or Lux ulti) which even if they are displaced the skill with still go through as the CAST cant be stopped)

Tristana rocket jumps consist of two seperate parts

the cast animation, and then the dash

the way it is coded is if any CC lands it will take effect for its remaining duration after the cast ends. (this is the same with all dashs) however with tristana the "dash" as actaully input after the "cast" is completed

and becuase new movement over-rides old movement, and CC during the cast animation will be ignored.

during her rocket jump (aka mid air) trist CAN be hit with CC and it WILL take effect, ( for example you can pull or or knock her out out of her jump if she is in the air as that will be the latest movement done to the champ

Ezreal arcane shift cant be stopped at all because he doesn't actually move he just teleports,

the only thing in the game that will stop a "cast" is killing the unit in question ( or for targeted casts, the targeting being removed) but by doing so their cooldown is refunded. ( most notice when casting item 3157 againDarius ulti just to have him use it again, stop trying it wont save you)

If we fix this for Tristana, we should fix every champion in the game that has mobility (suffice to say, most of them) because they have this interaction too.

ez mental boom9 votes

No. Only jumps with cast times. Vayne, Ahri, Akali, Kha, Rengar, Diana, Pyke, Ekko, Graves, Lucian, Riven, Yasuo, Wuk, etc. cannot buffer jump

Buffer jumping is mostly unique to Kass, Trist, Ez, Urgot, and Kat

HonestJohnTheCon2 votes

Well, I am mistaken, then. It's not unique to Trist though, so you'd have to go and fix the other champions with that interaction too.

ez mental boom3 votes

It wouldn't be a "fix" it'd just be a straight up nerf lol

PopcornBunni2 votes

No. It effects every mobility in the game. If you land a stun on any of those other champions while they're using their dash, they still get the full effect of the dash. The only way to stop a dash is with a knockup, knockdown (Poppy), or displacement. This is the same for every single character with a mobility spell.

LeMemeBoy9 votes

i mean, think about it this way.

if i threw a stun grenade at you while you were jumping, would it suddenly take all of the momentum out of your jump and stop you in your tracks? no. it wouldn't. you'd just be stunned, and land stunned wherever you jumped to. seriously, how is stunning tristana gonna stop her rocket from propelling her after she already cast it?

wildfox9T16 votes

the problem is not when she gets CC'd while she's jumping but when she ignores a CC (even displacements that normally cancel dashes) with her W,which basically works as cleanse + 3 miles dash

she already have 2 of the 4 most OP disengages of this game,if i CC her at least let me fking CC her, this mechanic makes playing champions like Ahri or Blitzcrank (the ones supposed to pick a target) feel so miserable

edit : and talking about logic (in videogames imao) you shouldn't be able to get your momentum if you get blocked before you get it...or at least make an animation where she lands with her face on the ground, how do you do a perfect landing while you are stunned?!? [sg-miss-fortune]

Wimbledofy2 votes

As blitz run up to tristana with E, when she tries to jump away Q her and it will pull her out of her jump. Tristana has one of the easiest dasjes to cancel because of its long cast time.

NineTailedMystic1 votes

You can't cancel the cast time. That's not how it works.

My Waifu Vanilla1 votes

That's not what he is saying. You wait for her to jump before you throw the hook. You can very easily hook her out of the air.

NineTailedMystic1 votes

I'm very well aware of pulling her during the actual jump. However, he specifically states "easiest dashes to cancel because of its long cast time".

My Waifu Vanilla1 votes

Also has one of the longest animations to yank her out of the air. Its one of the slowest dashes in the entire game barring maybe Akali R1.

Wimbledofy1 votes

Yes her cast time makes it easy to hit her because as soon as the cast time finishes is when you hook her.

wildfox9T1 votes

Yeah,it works if she panic her W,now can we suppose that she's not a monkey and that waste her escape for nothing?

My Waifu Vanilla1 votes

The scenario was that Blitz knocked her up with his E by simply running at her which is an entirely plausible situation in lane. In that scenario she HAS to jump away or she just dies to the ADC and Blitz smacking her around.

Yordle Xayah9 votes

Actually, she's not jumping after you've stunned her. She's buffering the jump while you tried to stun her at the wrong time, and that's skill expression on their part.

And you can hate and down vote me all you like but that's the truth. Any good Thresh player (for example) will walk onto you, wait for you to try to jump then interrupt you in the middle of it. Also, every single ability with a buffer like that works the same (never seen Ezreal do it?) and if you think it should be different just for a single character because you're salty after someone outplayed you in a game, then it's your problem.

The feature is not unintended, and has been there for years, and only in 2018 did people start bitching about it because that's what the boards do.

And finally, here's the Riot response to this topic made months ago that of course nobody remembers or cares to look for: Click Here.

Correction it was unintended, but like riven aa cancelling these mechanics have been here forever and just have been adapted as parts of the kit so.... they aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Also, I wish I could flay ezreal out of his blink lol but u right about tristy

Fix *all dashes and blinks interactions with CC.

If we apply it to Tristana, we apply it to j4, Xin, Kass, Aatrox, Ekko, and literally every other champion with a dash or blink in the game where it isn't stated they're unstoppable during it (Such as Malphite's ult).

Tristana is just the most noticeable because of her jump having the longest delay in the game. It's a problem with most other dashes, though.

If it's a root, grounding, stun, fear, or charm, it ends the dash. Silences can be an exception due to them not stopping movement commands, but they should still break the channel of the jump.

And, yes, they still get stopped mid-dash. If that would cause problems or seem unfair, extend the duration of the CC to include the remaining duration of the dash/blink, and have it take effect immediately upon conclusion, not allowing them to output a single command before it takes effect (Meaning: J4 doesn't get to execute his ult after his dash, no matter how it was queued up.

One or the other needs to be done, though. CC either stops the dash in its tracks or is extended until the dash ends and prevents the activation of all other abilities, including previously queued ones.

Infernape2 votes

Jarvan's a special interaction. His "dash" from his EQ is supposed to be able to continue through him being rooted or stunned.

PopcornBunni1 votes

It isn't the longest delay. Urgot , Ornn, and Galio dashes have a large windup before they start moving, but no one complains about them "dashing while stunned". I think it's just more noticeable with Trist because of her role as a carry and the long distance of the dash itself.

HeeroTX3 votes

No one complains about those 3 because 75% of the time no one WANTS to actually hook those 3. (ie. if they did, they're GLAD if its cancelled) XD

Pika Fox5 votes

Nothing to fix, it works like literally every other ability in the game.

The "fix" would be to remove the bufferring... Which means youd just miss the ability entirely anyway.

Ratpie4 votes

If you want tilt, have trist or anybody with that mechanic do it when you use Skarner to grab someone. Nothing like having your ult canceled.....
