No wonder why no new people can learn the game

1v1 Me In Edge··2 votes·701 views

Just played a game with nothing but diamond and plat players in draft and I am a lvl 28 unranked. Then my team proceeded to harass me the entire game saying "Be nice if we had a jungle," "Are you having fun losing?" and etc. It is hard when their mid laner is a diamond player playing an assassin and literally one hit me every time and the death time is always below 1 second.

To be honest you probably learn more faster with those Diamond and plat players than you do getting pooled with new players.

After a couple hundreds of games, you might find that you sped up so much that they aren't near as intimidating, and you're a lot more reactive to team demands.

I can tell you this much: If you try to enter ranked, you will probably land in silver, and you will learn nothing from them, because they are just as if not more so toxic, and will directly try to sabotage your play. You'll spend so much time fighting verbally that you don't have the brain processing left to realize the imperfections of actions, gear choices, team countering, winning against a counter, etc. Every game will instead be a lottery.

I'd play with those Plats and Diamonds as much as you can. Just tell them at the beginning that you are unranked and learning and ask for tips. MOST of them will try to play around that in norms. You might get up to a high Gold level of play there without playing thousands of ranked games and ruining your chance to climb.

If you instead play your thousands of games THERE, you can probably carry yourself in ranked to Gold + in less than 50 games. If you try to Learn in Ranked, expect 1600 games + to still be Silver, or worse. Bronze.

P.S. Some Diamonds/Plats will coach players if you befriend them.

i think its counter intuitive to fight people who are excessively better than you especially when you dont know what you doing.

It teaches you more though. You're quicker to adapt if you're patient than you are on a bad player's learning curve. And as I said, Good players will generally help you in norms post game and as friends etc if you're patient.

I see hundreds of players in silver who are no better than Bronze who have thousands of games played. You're less apt to learn when people aren't showing you something new than when they are.

If you play Ranked at low elos, you often get the feel that's exactly how fast games go. You begin to think dying early is natural, that risking pathing is normal. You begin to think you can win tunneling on your lane and you can recover what your opponents do by roaming to mid and ganking them - later.

And then you look at pro games, and you see that generally...... in farm phase, they are pretty calm. Just back and forth farming. You think it's the exact same game as what YOU are playing... until they actually have a fight. You don't notice they have a 90-100% retention of CS. You don't notice the subtle threat zones they don't enter. You just see those super sonic fights which end in 2 seconds with either people dead or across a wall barely safe.

You really only notice how fast the game is actually going... when you're in it. If you drop a Silver player into ranked Plat -Diamond.... I'm sorry. To them..... the game behaves like it went out of control in the blink of an eye. Their reaction times and awareness aren't trained up there. They don't realize that often you have to 3 key combos at the exact same time, in the right sequence, rather than spacing them out with sequential button presses. Or better..... They don't use Quick Cast, and don't use skill cancelling mechanisms.

But over time, they will adjust to it. Growth like that happens far more significantly than from someone who can't teach you any of this.
