The current state of the amount of damage being dealt

Since the release of the preseason the amount of damage dealt has been increased dramatically. This is especially noticeable early game. For example, making one misstep in botlane gets you either poked into dangerous territory in the first minute of laning, or all-inned and killed in like half a second. These are my observations as a botlane player but I would like to know about the other lanes as well.

What is the general consensus on the increased amount of damage being dealt / the squishiness of champions in comparison to the the old runes + masteries system? Do you enjoy or hate it?

Also, what is Riots stance of the current balance level of damage in general?

Summarizing my experience on the new level of damage dealing: I enjoy the huge variety of champions viable to play, from tanks to poke champions, and feeling impactful. However, often when playing a squishy champion I either burst another champion down or I get bursted down in such a short time that I didn't feel like I outplayed someone or got outplayed.
