Garen needs a buff

Garen seems very under powered now, you cant seem to 1 vs 1 anyone, not even the adc that you sue to flash and q to spin yourself and than ult. his judgement (E) has become way to weak to do absolutely anything, your forced to get damage to do anything with garen now. the true damage wont really proc well at all since the base of your e is so weak.... honestly after the release, i played garen just to try him out in rank. I am indeed a garen main, and i was disappointed. i dont really know why the balance team chose to do this, i dont think they ever even play garen, all they did was fix the problem that people complained about how garen is to hard, yet hes one of the most simple champion minded characters to play.the ONLY GOOD thing that came out of this is your Ult passive to do 1% true damage, but even so, it barely helps at all. riots pretty much just saying, " if you know your going to loose, just choose garen and ult people with true damage"

He needs a lot of work to be done, he was perfectly fine back than the way he was, tankiness is pointless now on him if u cant effect the battlefield with teamfights. btw the W that had his tenacity when active, was a bigger loss as well, they talked about how it was too good, but yet irelia gets to keep her own damage passive with HUGE amount of tenacity and greater true damage.

i sound like a kid bitching for not getting what he wanted but the truth is, garen needs to get buffed in some way or just change him back the way he was. honestly hes very bad right now. you can drop your comments or opinions below, i will not argue with anyone, but i am open for more positive opinions because i want to see if i just missed something that i didnt say. ive palyed enough rank games to know that garen is just to weak now, and my win ratio is gonna die soon.

the truth is, you had to build damage on him before.

because defesnive stats all around in this game are trash. you can invest 17k gold into a purely defensive build and will survive 1 second longer than if you put, say 11k gold into defenses. but youre forfeiting any kill potential of your own.

league has basically changed to a point where its not worth building more defenses past the absolute necessary base to not die within 2 or 3 seconds, before you can get 1 ability chain off. and then put the rest of your gold into damage. the game has been in this state since bork.

even when tanks were returning for a short while they never built 6 item defensive builds. all of them went into kindof bruiserish builds and got at least a couple of hp/resistance + damage items like rod of ages, liandries, abyssal etc.

resistances are losing their gold value with resistance shred, and penetration. health is losing its gold value with bork and lifesteal. you dont really have a choice to build anything but damage if you want to achieve something in this game anyways.

building garen tanky has been trash for a long long time. and right now, even if they expect us to stack health on him, its more worthwile to build 1 or 2 defensive items and the rest as much damage as possible. the positive news is, that his new (old) w passive makes him better at that. especially with the nerf to armor items it profits him more than the % increase.

I dont know why, but he feels like crap 1-6. On later levels, the ticks of E and the overall feel is just terrible. I dont like it at all and it used to be my #2 main before 5.16. As well as with LB... puting him to sleep.

Deadmans plate + BC + more tank = Stay the f*ck away or die, not to mention he can easely bumrush through all cc to nuke his target to oblivion, yes, I wil be banning him from now on. I was asking for Garen buffs, I thought he needed them, but this is fkin overkill, he's literally broken now, you guys just don't have any clue how to abuse the new items that are available to him items, other people do, just mark my words. He will be recieving nerfs soon enough.

Until then, yeah, I don't wanna fight him.

How are people building Garen?

I'm thinking BC + IE + defense boots + Sterak's Gage (I'm admittedly not sure about this one) + Deadman's Plate + Spirit Visage.

The new garen is fine he just is weaker in lane a little bit for better late game power so he doesn't fall off anymore. Also just build the new items Deadmans plate and sterak's gate with a black cleaver and you will destroy everyone. The new itemization available to garen literally fix all the problems in his kit.

IMO his early game (Lv. 1-6) damage was hit too hard, but other than that I don't see any issues with it. The Silence duration loss and loss of Tenacity on Courage suck, but we just need to get used to not having those.

Garen had a really crappy late game damage if he build tankiness. The new spin to win gives him a 3.8 instead of a 3.3 damage mod as long as he can hold a target in it for the full spin. So for every 100 damage you build on him, you get an extra 50 damage on his e than before but only at end game. Let's not pretend that the true damage bonus is all that. It's only 10 percent of max health out of a full spin to win and that is only if he has a very specific target in his spin for the full duration. The ult giving true damage isn't that much of a buff since it was magic damage before anyway and unlikely to meet with very much resistance. So he is now trading in his tenacity, duration of silence and speed boost and armor bonus for a rotten early game and a mediocre damage bump late game. Whee! The only decent way to build him now is with much damage and some hps which I think is why people are noticing a damage bump more than any actual changes to his kit.

Garen patch 5.16 is broken beyond this world, what he needs is a fat nerf so I can reserve my bans for other obnoxious champions.
