Gameplay mechanics that (really) need to stick to Mordekaiser
Hello guys,
First off, let me introduce myself. I am what people like to call an "OTP" Mordekaiser. I've been playing him in ranked for years, reached diamond in 2016 thanks to him and he's about the only char I enjoy to play. I have 400k "points" (or whatever it's called) on Mordekaiser even though I clearly don't spend all of my free time on this game.
So, yes. When I heard about a coming rework for 2019, I felt like I had my word to say about it before my League of Legends experience potentially ends (which I really don't wish to happen).
Don't worry, I won't be THAT typical guy really opposed to changes who thinks that "things were better before" about everything. I'll just try to be realistic.
Anyway, if my post is ever read by one member of Riot's game design team (the dream), here's my list of things that should be kept on Mordekaiser's gameplay :
- The passive. Gaining tankyness as we deal damage is what makes Mordekaiser so unique and rewarding to play. Offense is the best defense has never been more true with him and this is why he's so lovable. The way it scales with max HP, the minimal % that can't be depleted over time. Everything is so well designed, it would be a sacrilege to touch it. Get ganked... Run away ? Nah, hit them in the face and turn that sh*t into a 1v2 double kill. Yeah, that's how we do.
- The DOT ultimate and the ghost. Please, do not touch this. This spell is... perfect. Getting an adc ghost in an unwinable game and going for a quadra then comeback has happened many times and yet gave me orgasms every single time. The micro management the ghost implies to harass or push towers is really cool and the dot mechanic is what makes Liandry so good on Mordekaiser and I like to see someone's life melt after I pressed one key. You did a good job when you created that spell a long time ago, just keep it, trust me (please xd).
- The total lack of crowd controls. Mordekaiser is all about dealing damage and healing (a tiny bit). No mobility, no stealth, no stun, not even a slow. If I'm right, he's the only "AP" champion designed this way. And this is awesome. I like the fact that it's super hard to reach and stay close to your opponents but when you actually do, you kick butts. Champions balance is all about strengths and weaknesses. If one has good tankyness, it will have less damage potential. If it has huge crowd controls, it will lack mobility or damage etc. These are examples, but I just want Mordekaiser to remain with his current strengths and weaknesses, even if his Q W E change.
Plus I love theorycrafting and no CC at all makes Rylai 101% worth to buy on him because of the way slow stacking works in League of Legends (only the highest % is considered, which means that building Rylai on champions that have innate slows makes the passive kinda wasted) or because slowing a stunned target is pointless. I really love the Rylai/Liandry combination and I really would like it to remain as viable as it currently is on Mordekaiser.
I'm really open-minded about Q W E changes (as long as they mainly deal damage) but these three gameplay elements HAVE to go through the rework. You guys maybe won't agree (or just don't care xd) but this is really important to me so I had to write it down.
Love to whoever read that, thanks for your time and have a great day.
PS: English isn't my native language so I apologize for the grammar mistakes.
and
have CC. Only time will tell, of course, but I personally think that he's getting as many changes as I think he is, based on the vibe from both the announcement and Malicious Metal's post seems to suggest, he WILL have some form of CC, as they ARE trying to make him into a Solo Laner now. That will require some form of CC, in my personal opinion.
