Am I the only one whose ELO goes down while playing with friends?

When the season started I always played SoloQue. I went from G5 to G1 in a couple of weeks... and then I started playing with a group of friends. I then fell down to G4 playing with this group, only to climb back up when I played SoloQue. Rinse. Repeat.

This has happened so many times that I sometimes have to refuse to play with my friends just so I can climb back up, because I know they'll just bring me down.

And no, they're not intentional feeders or anything when we play together, we're not toxic. We just usually go against a better team when playing together.

So why should people be proud of a SoloQueue badge? I feel it is so much easier to climb Solo. Are there really that many people who win most of their games with friends? If anything, playing SoloQueue is boosting.

That's why I only play with my friends on an alternate account.

it's not playing with friends for the most part, it's playing with higher ELO/smurfing friends

You're experiencing the other side of the "competitive (un)integrity" coin that no one talks about with DQ--that, since your DQ rank can depend on the quality of your friends, it may bring you down.

Definitely did with me at the start of the season.

I struggle to climb with my friends...not because they play poorly, rather, our opponents get significantly better and the random teammates we tend to get are usually much worse. It hurts because I like to play support, but my friends play mid and top usually.

I have noticed the same pattern in my games too. Its so extreme that I stopped playing ranked in premades altogether. I'll only play ranked with very specific people who are super reliable on their mains, otherwise, I'm not accepting any more invitations to ranked premades, only normals. Playing solo yields the best results for me by far.
