About twist that can be done on Luden's Echo

I thought the New 120 AP Item is a bit weak. First, if you are targeting a single target, the additional 100 damage given the low proc rate doesn't mean a lot, Rabadon's Deathcap provides much more damage. If you are aiming for wave clear, it is even worth since the damage is low and it is hard to proc many times. Talking about Statikk Shiv, I personally think it is a much better item. Casting spells ususally consumes mana while auto attacks don't, and Statikk Shiv gives the opportunity to crit, also it is mix dmg (which diverse the dmg type) Comparing with Lich Bane, Lich Bane has a higher proc rate (1.5 sec cooldown and much more consistent since auto attacking doesn't need your spell to be off cool down). Dmg from lich bane also is much higher too (15% vs 75%).

So, I've discussed this with my friend, and he proposed a better (imo) replacement solution for the Deathfire Grasp. It could use the same or similar mechanics to build up the stack, and upon full stack, it buffs your next spell's dmg by 30%.

A few twists you can do to this proposed item. If needs buff, you can make the stacks consumes on hit instead of on cast (doesn't waste the stacks). If needs nerf, say aoe abilities with 30% more dmg is too OP, you can make AOE abilities only have less (say 15%) DMG increment. Also, you can use other types of ability amplifiers too, say next spell has 30% additional magic penetration or so on.

So what do you guys think? and @Riot

100 (+15% AP). That's the damage it adds to whatever spell you hit with it.

And for Rabadon's to exceed that you have to have a spell with, like, no base damage and a 100% AP ratio.

To increase the dmg of next spell looks reasonable than aditional magic penetration. Or it will become too easy to kill tank in late game. For example, buff Veigar or Malzahar's ult(35% void staff+30%+whatever mp).

Right now the dmg doesn't match the rate to trigger it

I actually like the idea, but the ratio should not be as high, (at most 20%) since it can proc quite often. Or keep it at 30% ratio, but remove the ability to charge it through walking. instead make it proc after 10 spell casts. which would allow counterplay as well since it should be evident when they are ready to try and burst.

lewden unlike lichbane can be proced from a safer distance, also it gives more ap than lichbane, gives ms and it strikes multiple targets too

Its actually good, it just doesn't instagib. For some champs it is better than others though. Like Kennen, who canproc it on his way in with his e, throw a q as hes zipping about, ult and zhonyas, when hes out his w should be ready to proc it a second time. that's 200+30%AP extra damage, so say on a 600 AP kenn that's an additional 380 damage to his combo. I also greatly improves his waveclear. or AP fightsassins, like kass and Diana, its a huge amount onto the front end of their damage to survive better. Its also more useful for all skill levels. there are a lot of people who neglect activated items, or miss them, or hit the wrong target in a teamfight. Or champs like kat, who that splash might just be the damage within 3 seconds she needs. They deleted DFG because it was too instakill on champs like LB and Veigar. with that 30% bonus proposed, veigar would once again be instakill if for no other reason than having a 1800 damage ult. also just flat damage increase like that, imagine a cho with that, or darius could even built that to be ult-tastic
