LeaverBuster really needs to be changed..

Dear Riot, this is my first post on these boards. I would've hoped it had been something positive but I'm here to talk about LeaverBuster. Personally, I really feel as if you should take a look at changing it for the better. RANT TIME: So, I was queueing up for a good ol' game of flex queue with friends b/c I wanted to get a quick warmup game before my daily solo/duo ranked games. It all started out fine. I wanted to go jungle but I ended up going mid. I was going to play Zed but it got banned so I ended up playing Kayn mid. Unorthodox, I know but its worked before and it's fun. I got into the game and immediately, I was hit with upwards of 5000-6000 ping. There was no one home but me at the time so I was really confused as to why my ping was so high. Granted, I play on a WiFi connection and I live on the East Coast so a little lag is to be expected but I was really surprised. So, I decided to change my internet. I am able to connect to my home WiFi and Optimum hotspots b/c I have an internet plan with Optimum. So, I decided to try it out. When I went to go change my internet, it worked fine and I Alt-Tabbed back into the game. I was on League Voice so I was able to hear everyone and they could hear me, but for some reason, the game was still saying "Attempting to Reconnect". So, I decided to exit the game and reconnect. I exited out and pressed the reconnect button. I was brought to a black screen and nothing happened. I then went into Task Manager and closed out the client and the game and reopened the client. Tried to reconnect. Nothing. Alright, guess I'll try again. The 2nd time, it tried to revert back to the last patch and update from there. Didn't know why it was trying to do this but I went along with it. Said it would redownload it. Never happened. I was beginning to get a tad bit frustrated but I put that aside and opened the Hextech Repair Tool. I tried to Force Repatch it and yet again, nothing happened. So, I figured that there was no other option but to reinstall the game. So, I did just that. Keep in mind that my champion and account were still technically in the game even though I had to reinstall the whole game. Reinstalling the game took about an hour. I opened the client and put in my credentials. The client opened and I was immediately hit with this message: "Due to recent leaving and AFK behaviors on this account, you will be placed in a lower priority queue for 5 matchmade games". At this point, I was pretty pissed off as I had just finished a previous LeaverBuster the previous day. So, I decided to make this post. RANT OVER

IDEAS FOR AN ALTERNATE LEAVERBUSTER

  • I feel as if a person has had a 20-minute LeaverBuster for a good while and hasn't completed any other offenses, you could maybe consider reverting the time back to 5 minutes so that they don't have to spam Twisted Treeline 3v3 versus Beginner Bots

  • Maybe you could devise a system that reads the chat and/or watches the ping of players to determine whether they actually just left the game or got disconnected. If they press the reconnect button which obviously means that they want to return to keep playing, then don't penalize them.

  • Maybe instead of having a 20-minute queue timer for 5 games, you could just serve your entire sentence at once so it would be 100 minutes or an hour and 40 minutes of waiting. That's totally fine but instead, I have to wait and then play a 7-minute game which at the end adds up to 35 extra minutes of playing against beginner bots. What fun...

ENDING STATEMENT I know that nobody is going to most likely read this and I'm just a Silver player so people aren't really going to hold my opinions in high regards but I really felt as if I needed to say something about this system that screws me over anyway it can get. I'm not a rage quitter and I always attempt to win in every game even if we may be down a player. I don't report people who leave because it feels petty to me and if this happens to me then what's to say that it cant happen to them? Anyways,Riot, I really feel as if you need to check in on the LeaverBuster system as it hasn't been changed in 6 years and really needs some retouching. Thank you.

If you just finished a leaver buster penalty yesterday and then the very next day you DC or AFK in a game (even if the reasons are out of your control) you are pretty much guaranteed another penalty.

as for your suggestions

the 1st one.....there wasnt much time of "good behavior"...you just finished a penalty yesterday and had a dc the next day.

and for your 2nd suggestion.....peopel could easily just start downloading a bunch of stuff and cause their lag and then blame it on lag...there is no getting around it...its workjing the weay it should.

One thing I feel like riot should implement in the league client is a way to tell your ping before you enter a game. If it will tax their servers then maybe it can only check if you hit the play button.
