New Ashe + Infinity edge

So I was really excited for the new Ashe update and decided to try her out in a bot match.

Everything is going smooth, no real issues... until I buy an infinity edge. item 3031

It seems that the 50% bonus crit damage does NOT apply to Ashe

The crit chance on my character sheet was 41% and the bonus I was gaining from my passive was 61%. Now, that is a 20% increase, but there is still a glaring 30% missing. I also tested it out on a few minions and the bonus damage is still not coming through. I shot a minion and dealt 220 damage with my initial shot and my second shot did 361. With some simple math, I actually did only do roughly what was on my character sheet (forgoing any complicated percentages due to armor). My sheet claimed I would do 171% bonus damage but I ended up with only roughly ~161%.

So... where is my extra 30%?

TLDR: item 3031 is not applying its full 50% mark up to Ashe

It applies differently. Check out the wiki. It's part of an equation that just increases her attack damage (basically). Bot the crit chance and crit damage are part of the calculation.

"Ashe's basic attacks always deal bonus damage to slowed targets, replacing her ability to critically strike. Bonus damage increases with her critical strike chance."

Working as intended You do not crit You don't get more crit damage

You need to reread the passive. It states "Ashe's basic attacks against frosted enemies always Critical strike for modified critical damage, but Ashe otherwise cannot perform critical strikes."

So yeah they are still considered critical strikes.

I read the passive on the http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/champions-skins/champion-update/champion-update-ashe-takes-aim-pbe page

So thats riots fault for changing it Not mine

Not rly. You are quoting an article about PBE. Rarely does anything ever come from PBE to regular gameplay unchanged. Please don't try to comment on current situations while using outdated information.

The math behind it is complex. The Crit Damage isn't just added, there's multiplication between her Crit Chance and Crit Damage. And because you're multiplying two decimal numbers (percentages are basically 1/100th factors, so 50% is 0.5), you aren't getting the whole +50% damage because you don't have 100% Crit Chance.

As others have stated, it does impact her damage a little, but it is an overall nerf as far as crits go due to the way is scales. The reasons ADC's are strong is because they can pop in, land a couple quick crits, and get out. Ashe won't be able to do that; she'll have to hang out in team fights longer (albeit it with more steady damage), and that's just not safe for a champ with no mobility at all. TBH I think they killed her with this rework, but time will tell. I hope I'm wrong TBH.

Also the champ has to be slowed, which mean she went from a guaranteed first hit crit to a guaranteed normal first hit (because she has to get the slow applied first for the extra damage to kick in). That is going to hurt her a lot more than people seem to think.

I actually like the new ashe over the old ashe, her early and mid game is much stronger, and her late game is much more reliable.

The bonus crit damage does apply. There was a red post but basic formula is this:

Ashe Damage = (AD)(1.1) + (AD)(Crit Chance)(1+Crit Damage)

So she does the same damage over time as any ADC but it's averaged instead of bursty (as is the nature of crit) and she also gets a nice 10% bonus in damage after her first attack probably to make up for the fact that she never "crits" on her first auto.

That all makes sense. I mainly did not know how inifinity edge's passive got applied to ashe. Good to know it's still there at least. :)

I don't understan really, I really thought building phantom dancer first on Ash would be better, even two of them with no infinity edge as its cheaper, gives more crit strike chance and I thought infinity edges passive didn't work on ash. how does it work on ashe? can you explain please?

I've found with the rework that Phantom Dancer is actually an awesome addition to Ashe. I'll generally go BF sword and then rush a phantom dancer. Take infinity edge for the 20% crit chance which adds 20% damage after the first hit. Then into a Phantom dancer, I personally like a blade of the ruined king for the bit of life steal and finish with a static shiv. The last Item usually last whisper but I like to leave it open... anyway point being that when you tally up the crit numbers you get 20 + 35 + 20 which is and extra 75% damage every hit after the first. Pretty sure it works out to every shot after the first doing 185% damage. Pair it with a full rangers focus end game(1.35x) and that 185 becomes the 249.75 percent (here is your 250% that you wanted) of her normal damage at 140% attack speed. When your attack damage is already about 250 you will easily hit for about 6-700 end game each shot at a ridiculous attack speed when you consider the 140% of +50%(Phantom dancer)+40%(Static Shiv) +40% for blade of the ruined king. If you do the math it works out to 3.2x her base attack speed.

The trick to making her work is to already have 5 stacks on you Q... then initiate with R... hit Q and if they are still left standing use the active on ruined king to slow them even more while giving you more speed in the process.

To put it as simple as possible:

The 50% of Infinity Edge is relative to the crit damage. 50% of 40% is 20% makin g a total of 60%.

This works on Ashe exactly the same way it does on other champs
