How is this fair?

Trying to level up as a new player, I am currently level 15. The highest person on my team is level 17... But we get put up against two level 30s, and a level 21? How exactly is this fair? How does this promote fair gameplay? How does this entice a player to continue to level when this seems to happen quite often. 1 out of ever 3 games I have played lately has put me up against an opposing player with a keystone mastery, so I check their builds at the end of the game. 75% of the players that I face off against with a keystone are level 30, and they simply carry the game. Please do something about your matchmaking system at lower levels, this is very frustrating.

It's not just new players feeling it, I've seen silvers setup against diamonds. They're 'fix' to the system only made it worse.

This and it doesn't happen just randomly. I'm being constantly put against diamonds/plats while my team is max gold.

Normals are cancer, if you are low elo fuck you , you don't get to have fun

Oh I know it's been an issue ever since they replaced teambuilder with 'dynamic' que. I agree it's more like 'enjoy fighting superior opponents all the time', I frequently see complaints about this for ranked games, but those people don't play enough normals to see this is expansive problem. Also did a double take about your name XD

Hey there, I am a new player too. I also agree that they should do something about their matchmaking it is pretty awful. On the upside when you win a match under those odds, it is a good feeling. Howerver, it is very rare.

I have worked my way up to playing (blind solo) where most, if not all, players are level 30. But since I'm new to the game, about a month I would say, I am being put on teams with very experienced players. This makes me the weakest link, and ripe for the verbal abuse.

I would like to see a 'low elo', not sure if I used that correctly, ranking system in place from the start. I would love to hop into ranked, but I only have a few champions and the banning system could effectively knock me out of play. With a ranking system in place from the start it would give new players a chance to learn the ropes, so to speak.

It would also, give new players an idea of when it is a good time to check out the draft and ranked style of gameplay. Additionally, it would keep some of the fodder out of those game modes as it would be gated by the ranking system. Adding a 'MMR', or whatever the ranking resource they chose, penalty for player reports (ie: afk, unsportsman like conduct, etc.) would keep the toxic/trolls out of the more competitive and serious style of the now ranked games.

This doesn't solve your problem though, because there are some pretty bad level 30's out there, myself included, and a ranking system may have them playing against you if your a better player.

But allways remember, never give up never surrender.

MMR is in effect from the very first game of league you play, and because of the small sample size of games is a bit extreme at the start allowing smurfs to play vs smurfs and new players to play vs new players. Smurf accounts tend to be much less prevalent after about level 10, creating somewhat of a parabola of smurf account distribution, since most of the playerbase clumps up at level 30. MMR stands for Matchmaking Rating, typically averaging out the players on the team.

What I think that you might mean instead of saying "I would like to see a low elo ranking system from the start" is that you might want to use the LP system from the beginning, and the LP system is based off of MMR. For example, if someone is bronze 5 and has the MMR of someone in diamond, then they gain a massive amount of LP every win and for every loss loses a very small amount.

The reason why having 16 champs available for normals draft is required is because of the fact that if you ban 6 of the champs you own, and everyone on both teams picks 9 of the others, then you still have 1 champion left to play. It is the same way with ranked draft, except for the fact that you cannot use the free rotation in ranked.

TL;DR - Matchmaking sucks for leveling people because of account distribution across levels. Most players have level 30 accounts and play on those.

Thanks for the response, I figured as much that is why I started my post with most of the players I play are level 30. But there is no carrot for this, I have to assume. I think a sub ranked system for the new players that come to the game would be benificial.

And yeah who has two thumbs and around 8 champions... -->this guy<--.

I still believe aknowledging the ranked system for new players would add some fun to the game. What I believe is the problem is that you have a low level toon start up a pre made and then join game, not that I would know. It seems like an obvious exploit.

For example, level 15 champ, gets four of his level 30 buddies and then starts the queue. The system sets him up against people his level and it becomes a roflstomp.

This is just what I think is going on from reading the forums, not that anything will come of it.

I am almost on the exact opposite side of the spectrum as you are. I only have 3 champs left to buy, including Ivern when he comes out. I also have 7 rune pages, all filled. I have somewhere around 1700 normal wins, and somewhere around 450 ranked games.

I still remember back in season 3 when I tilted a kat 440 degrees by playing my main at the time, old AP Trist getting a penta that game.

At first glance it seems you are correct by thinking level equals talent. However, there are so many smurfs between levels 1-30 that the level you are is almost meaningless. You could have a diamond player that is stomping everyone on a new account at level 10 and the system might try to put a bunch of level 20+ players on the other team to equal it out.

My personal opinion is that you should probably try to look at this a different way:

You are not level 30 yet. You don't have all your runes, or your masteries even. The journey to 30 is mostly about learning. Get matched up with some higher level folks? Try to learn from what you see them do.

Im currently in Silver 2, But in normals, I am very often put up against plat and diamond players. (more so than gold really, which seems strange.) Its not ranked, so its no big deal if I lose (not a big deal in ranked either really, but it costs me LP so...) Take the time to try and learn something. Its how you get better.

When I first started playing, my friends that got me into the game were all high gold or better. One of them was Diamond. They were awesome to be willing to play normals with and against me, and I am a better player for it.

Only 5-20 games separate the first 30 levels. Once you get out of the "beginner" levels you will be on a level playing field. The reason that you are matched with higher is because your normals mmr is high, and their normals mmr is low. This means you are winning more games and they are losing more games. They cant just throw you in with other lvl 15's because then the queue time would be an hour at most. The point of the first 30 levels is to save up for runes, build basic skill foundations and to learn from basic mistakes. Don't take losses too seriously, its all about learning.

Im not thinking that level is equal to talent, Im simply stating that there is a VERY unfair advantage when you are faced against people who have full masteries and the availability for full runes, when as a level 15 I dont even have a keystone talent. Also my MMR in normals is pretty bad considering my win/loss ratio is very far below 50% due to the previously stated matchmaking. The thing I wanted to point out was, the two level 30s were two separate duos, that were placed on the same side of the rift. Why were these duos not placed against one another in the lobby? Instead they were put on the same team versus players that did not have anywhere close to the same access to resources in the mastery trees or rune pages.
