I recently hit level 30 (yesterday) and started to play ranked. I got placed in Silver 1 which is alright to start in, however people tend to ban certain champion s I want to pick solely so I can't pick said champion. This mainly happens when I try to play Jhin in the middle lane. Jhin has some nice burst, great poke and decent wave clear, yet people don't want me to play Jhin mid. Is the community too narrow minded or is Jhin mid really a troll pick?
Bill Gatez1 votesIt's not a troll pick. Your team probably just didn't like your AD mid pick so they banned you out.
Sometimes, I just use my pick intent as a placeholder, because if I put the champ I actually want, I know there's a chance someone will ban it to be a doosh, or because they dislike my pick.
My advice is to you is, hover over an ADC as your pick intent for mid, so your team knows that you will be playing an AD mid, then when it's your turn to pick, just lock Jhin.
Fovere1 votesgood advice, you don't want to mislead your team into thinking they will have more md or ad, but you might not want to put your exact champ if you're concerned about banning.
that said, its probably better to play something closer to meta rather than tilt your teammates by doing something that makes them uncomfortable.
it's not so much a question of narrow minded than it is past experience. many people who pick atypical champ/role combos are largely trolling
