ADC main here, plat past two seasons, currently attempting to climb back right now... and it is truly a struggle. Problem, in my opinion, is that games RARELY get to late-mid to late game nowadays due to the assassin rework and overall strength of flavor jungle picks (Vi, hec, lee, zac, poppy, etc)... Unless you completely snowball the lane with a hyper carry(jinx, mf, vayne, twitch)... you're useless unless playing a utility ADC (cait, sivir, ashe)..... until late game, if ever. I want to say most of my games end before the 30 minute mark even hits..... Win or lose.
I find that most of my games, even going even in lane (0-0 with 70+ cs at 10mins), or one up on kill vs enemy adc, it is still hard to be effective early to mid game until late game hits.... The rework to assassins has heavily dictated the game. Junglers attempt to snowball mid lane more often now (which is fine!) but if a LB, Kat, Talon, etc. gets ahead 2 kills the game is ungodly difficult due to their kits.. That added to the the ridiculous early game strength and (sustaining strength?) of the flavor junglers right makes it extremely difficult to peel for an ADC. Example, a ZERO damage item hecarim can still 100 your ADC just by E+Q+R combo.
Honestly the game seems really depressing as an ADC. I think a lot has to do with the cost of items for an ADC (which is expensive) to be effective, which is typically around 2 full items....while you have assassins like LB who can buy a morello by 8-9 minutes and 1 shot.
Last but not least... you frequently see the hyper carry ADC's being banned in pretty much all tiers.
