What is with support grading?

I'm getting a B in income for not CSing as a support. Also, generally, it's really hard to get an S as a support. I will carry my adc and he will get an S and I'll get an A a lot of the games. I think this is because as a support you do things that can't be recorded by a simple score. Saving somebody's life or sacrificing yourself is either neutral or harmful to your score. Overall I wish that support grading felt better as I frequently am disappointed with my score after the game. I don't feel like it matches with what I do in game.

I used to get S+ quite a lot. now it's rare to get over A probably because of the support item changes gutting our income when it completes. spamming wards in enemy territory and destroying enemy wards seems to have the biggest impact, or maybe equal impact to getting assists. i just wish there was a clear way to see what riot wants me to do for S rank. My average is B+ now out of 841 games :\

according to my stats page it's gold income holding my scores back. which is pretty bs considering there is very little I can do to improve that without irritating my teammates by taking cs/kills.

Give it some time. They probably didn't reset the criteria averages when they put the preseason changes in, so we're still being judged based on earlier standards. Once the averages shift due to current items/champ strengths, you should see more reasonable results.

They probably didn't want to discard pre-change data because having nothing to compare us to would also result in wildly screwy grades, but they probably could've used weighted data to lower the impact outdated results have on current grades.

while i agree and have the same issues , i think that grading will fixed on its own , because it grades based off average grades from this season aka before support item changes .

so basically it compares your post-support changes score to the pre-support changes scores in time with more people playing the average scores data will change and will be in our favor again
