Bard vs 5v5 Rift- gg?
There are pros and cons to the Rift's newest champion, but in this thread I want to bring the cons to light so that Riot (or rito doesn't matter) staff may have some things to think on for Bard: The Wandering Caretaker.
Now as a rift player who enjoys his team fights, there is one champ who isn't doing so well as of the moment in that area. He's new, and yes, is often played since his release (10.21% popularity) and that is Bard. He's a fun champ and has great mechanics, but he simply does not have much effect in a team fight. His q will hit 1-2 people and stun depending on if he lands it on the second target or wall, which is a nice ability. He also has his passive, which is pretty nice and deals damage (slightly) and gives back mana and a speed boost. But his q is his only ability that does scaling damage, or even effects enemies until level 6; which brings me to my next point: his ultimate. It has the same effect as a zhonyas, which doesnt sound bad at first. But unless you only aim, and land it, on someone in the back line- it's really only good for zoning turret (or protecting your own). I'm not saying "hate bard!" here, but in the environment such as a low elo, or ranked in the silver/bronze divisions especially, he tends to hurt the team more than help in those situations by accidentally hitting his teammates. When a champ is weak in early lane phase, I say, "Well maybe he's more effective late"- but that's a bit mistaken. Comparing him to other supports (like Thresh, Morgana, Leona, etc) I don't see much of a reason statistically why I, or anyone else, would want to play him other than the fact that he's new, and still does feel fun to play no matter his effectiveness. His win rate, though somewhat effected by simply being new to people other than some PBE members, is 36.42%. By all means, that isn't bad at all (compared to some champions) but when you look at those lower rates: of those which ones are supports? The sight I used for these statistics is shown above, and rates and percentages will change as time passes. Please let me know your thoughts and opinions down below, and above else: enjoy the rift everyone! And remember, Bard is still a fun champ that should be treated with equal respect, and the summoners who use him. Good luck, and have fun everyone :).
