Should Riot do away with promotion series in solo/duo queue?

Hey everyone! I am a S4 Gold player who recently reached Platinum on the NA server under the IGN LittIe Synner, and I just wanted to share my opinion on the promotion series matches everyone has to play in order to advance in rank on the solo queue ladder. I would like to share my thoughts and my own experiences with placement series and allow others to share their own thoughts and experiences as well.

Personally, I believe that this system counteracts the very reason it was put in place: to make rising through the ranks feel like a bigger accomplishment and to put extra weight on specific games to make add intensity to them. I submitted this ticket to Riot after failing in 7 consecutive promotion series from Gold 1 to Platinum 5:

"When the ranking system changed from elo to the league/lp system, it was a change for the better. At first, the promotion series seemed like a good idea, and I believed it would be a suitable system to keep in place. However, after playing through 2 seasons with this system, I would like to make a case for you to change it. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way, and there are probably forums about this, but I'm tired after a rough run at Plat and I just want to make a quick point.

While climbing from my placement in Silver 2 season 3 up to my 4th failed promotion series to platinum, I have had nothing but distaste for promotion series. They're intended to give specific games more weight and importance, but I feel like they solely serve as restrictions holding you back even when you deserve the rank up. For instance, on my climb to Gold 1 (and ultimately my fall back to Gold 3) season 3, I won a grand total of 7 promotions series out of approximately 40 attempts. While I did grow somewhat as a player during this time, there is no reason I should be held back so often when I'm clearly setting myself apart from my fellow silver/low gold summoners. This season, I started in Gold 3, failed 7 or 8 promotion series before rising to Gold 2, won my 3rd on my way to Gold 1, dropped back down but won my 1st attempt back into Gold 1, and then failed 7 consecutive attempts at Platinum 5. The fact that I get into series, go 2-3, rinse and repeat so many times should be a strong indicator that I deserve to be in Platinum 5 (I was only legitimately carried 1 game this entire time,) but my promotion series keep holding me back.

I understand that the matches are supposed to feel more intense and give a since of accomplishment, but to me they just feel depressing and angering. I am usually a very positive spirit in the game, and I like to spread my optimism to others. However, during my X promotion series after losing so many in a row, I find myself getting angry at my teammates and being pretty toxic. I am far more likely to curse at teammates, point out mistakes, engage in arguments, etc when in my promotion series than in "regular" matches. It seems to me that these series just contribute to the overall toxicity of the game, an issue that stays very prevalent in the game even after all of the changes. And now, after all of the bitter failures, I am just so sad, so frustrated, so in shock at this game that I just want to put it down forever (or at least for a week or so XD.) I quite literally feel depressed because no matter how hard I try, I have nothing to show for my skill improvement.

All in all, it is my opinion that the promotion series are counter intuitive and counterproductive. They cause sadness and anger when they are meant to convey intensity, joy, and a sense of accomplishment. I think the rewards are really cool, and you did a very good job with them (except the victorious skin, morgana is lame :P) It just upsets me that I'm going to have to go an entire season longer with my gold border when I was so close and, in my opinion, so deserving of that platinum border."

At the time I was only venting my feelings after several days where I played 5-10 games per day (I normally only play 1-3 matches if I play LoL at all) without having anything to show for it. However, I do firmly believe that the current system with its promotion series matches is very flawed, and I would like to bring my beliefs up for discussion. I understand that my opinion is probably fairly biased considering how unlucky I am with completing my promotion series, (11 successful series and close to 60 failures) but I still feel it's valid. Feel free to post your opinions, but please do not be hyper critical of others' opinions including my own. I would like this to be a serious discussion with as little antagonism and conflict as possible.

I think what makes promos hard is this:

Many times I have got into promos and had AFKs/Ragequitters or intentional feeders ruin my promo series. Even if it isn't promos, it still sets you back and lowers your MMR

With promos, you usually sike yourself out, most people don't even know it, but they are more toxic and argue more when they are pressured to win in promos.
