I admire people who play melee assasin vs ranged/mages mids. How do you do this?

So, I always thought, why do people do this to themselves? Playing a Yasuo or Akali, that gets poked everytime they want to cs. And then i don't understand how you are able to win your lane or furthermore not even getting hit a lot by abilities. I for my part play champs like Syndra and Lux, which must be a pain in the ass for such melee champs mid.

So my question here is: How did you learn to play vs ranged, without losing everytime, do you have any tips for someone that wants to learn this and why do you do this to yourselves?

Melee assassins usually have a strong engage and can one shot ranged mages. Like Talon who has a lunge and Zed with his ultimate and long ranged poke with his abilities.

Well, Talon and Katarina maybe. But if you're asking how the two champions with the strongest unique anti-skillshot tools in the game manage to beat champions who rely entirely on projectiles, it should be self explanatory.

They do it through exerting kill pressure.

They can poke you down, but if you can exert lane dominance through simply being able to kill them, that gives you the upper hand.

Yasuo, though, gains the upper hand through his shield and dodging shit.

Its about fear and commitment.

The mage fears to get hurt but thinks "he's all the way over there it'll b ok."

But then the assassin jumps on them and does half their health in 2 autos.

Now they are in fear mode, playing extra safe.

But this allows the assassin to go roam to another lane to gank, to which the mid laner is blamed for it.

Its a psychological game, STEEL YOUR MIND!

A lot of melee assassins have empowered autos against low health targets like Zed or Fizz which helps them farm quickly and if they're pushed under tower

Well yasuo players in mid struggle in 1vs1 due to tower proximity (and no even with R out of tower range yasuo is still one of the worst divers in game) Yasuo botlane can handle 2 ranged champions past level 2 due to lane lenght and sustain setup

however yasuo can just out cs enemy.

I dont know about akali but she definetly cares less about mid tower
