Shaco ult blink(?) range seems too small.

One Quacky Boi··1 votes·1,275 views

The range shown when hovering over Shaco ult is only like a millimeter or two larger than his auto attack range. Considering that his auto attack range is 125 and his ults range should be 200 now I feel like that difference is too small.

A video would be nice, yeah. It'd also prove OP's point wrong anyway.

Well there you go. OP's wrong. It can hop over walls when it shouldn't even be able to do that, so the range is actually too large.

it's always been able to do that, but until this patch it was random whether you'd actually be able to get yourself over the wall or not.

The Ecdysiast1 votes

Aaah, right. So now it's not just able to, it's guaranteed. Makes sense.

it should be able to do that because it's a blink. and what can blinks do? go over walls...

I mean Shaco ALREADY has a blink+stealth

And what do Shaco players complain about? Not the fact he has every tool you could want to make jungling and ganking easier. It's that he doesn't have enough damage come mid-late if you don't get super fed early. Nevermind the fact he's insanely easy to get fed with.

But changes like this, that buff his unfair mechanics rather than his strength are only gonna require nerfs to power.

He's not super easy to get fed with though, he has garbage sustain, low health and resistances and box reliant for camp clears, if somebody counter jungled then he'd be useless and far behind meaning he's unable to gank as often. Let me make this part clear again HE ONLY HAS 2 USEFUL ABILITIES FOR JUNGLING, one of them being a passive. Meanwhile other champs like lee sin has a kit that's useful for everything, whether it be killing or jungling.

Except every Shaco main can do it easily consistently, because of the fact that--while unique-- his strengths aren't actually difficult mechanics to pull off.

His useful-for-jungling abilities allow him to either take no damage at all from the first buff or take the first two camps simultaneously, something no one else but Ivern can come close to doing.

Lee's actually a good comparison to use. Practice with Lee is rewarded with mastery of his more difficult kit. Practice with Shaco, on the other hand, is rewarded with mastery of his more unfair kit. None of Shaco's mechanics requires particular skill to pull off, but once you do have them down there's little to no counterplay (especially since the removal of pinks oh so long ago). Lee, on the other hand, requires tight timing and aim.

The difference is, if you wanna have a seemingly unfair advantage over the enemies as Lee, you have to be a good Lee. If you want to have an unfair advantage against the enemies as Shaco, you only have to know how Shaco's kit works.

And Riot knows this. They can't give too much extra offensive strength to a champion who has a blink and stealth on the same ability (compared to how they removed something similar to that when they reworked Akali, or every other invisibility that isn't also movement), stronger first clear than most champions, and a near champion-strength pet with no condition and a blink on top (the only similar example being Mordekaiser, who needs to get a kill/assist within a time period to get his).

This change to his ultimate is probably too strong in Shaco's favor, to be honest. But with how overloaded his kit is they can't give him flat buffs to his damage.

most of us shaco mains have been asking to have control wards reveal him for a long time in exchange for some more damage

The Ecdysiast1 votes

Yeah, exactly. I'm not shitting on Shaco players. I'm saying exactly that-- he needs some of his unfairness removed so that he can have flat damage put into his kit.

I agree, but I don't think this changes is a massive buff and probably won't require any new nerfs to him to make up for it.

The Ecdysiast1 votes

Probably not, yeah. This one is just adding a guarantee to something that was a frustration before. Which is probably fine.

Though I would've preferred that they guarantee it can't rather than guaranteeing that it can.

not entirely the case here- the clone now auto-moves which makes it impossible to do some things that we used to with it as far as baiting goes, so there's still a tiny bit of tradeoff. i doubt that jumping over walls was even remotely part of their thoughts with this, and again if shaco's not allowed to have damage i'll take anything i can get as far as other tools

Ability ranges are from the center of the champions' hitboxes and auto-attack ranges are from the edges.
