Matchmaking's adjustments base on winrate are too lopsided, thus loss/win streaks.
The matchmaking system is trying to move everyone to a 50% winrate. Even the best players have close to 55% win rates as solo queuers, and the ones who have higher, duo or join as a group to increase their chances. I don't want to have to find other good players to play with at all times only to remain competitive. I think that it's pretty screwed up that the matchmaking system pairs you up against harder opponents ,while at the same time, giving you horrible teammates when you are on a win streak. They lopside the chances of you winning TOO MUCH when compensating for you winning a lot. Carrying bad teammates shouldn't be a demonstration of how well you play, because one person can screw up an entire game by themselves, but I don't feel that the same is said for one person winning a game by themselves.
** It should be equal teams no matter what. ** If you're good, you'll still win more, and if your skill level is below that elo, you'll be a hindrance to your team, and lose enough to eventually go back down to where you belong. Why make matchmaking so lopsided that it is obvious by the patterns of wins, losses, and win rates that it's rigged against you, in some cases so much so that you're pretty much MEANT to lose before you even get into the Rift!
I wonder if riot did it this way in order to keep people playing. If you have a win streak, you're going to feel great about your skill level, the game, and keep playing. And losing streaks usually just make players want to work harder to improve their mistakes. Players have an ambition for climbing in the game that drives them to continue. Although it appears that they're playing worse than when they were on their win streak, it's usually just the team and enemy team that they're given that makes the **majority **of a difference before the match even starts. The impact that a single player can have within a match only goes so far in comparison to the mighty power of the matchmaking system. So essentially, they're giving everyone their dose of "feel good" in a giant rotation?
Also, the ol'saying that everything levels out where it should be at the end of the day... If the best players are still getting 55% win rates, thats 5% progress over HOW MANY GAMES!?? How does anyone have the time to play a large enough volume of games for that 5% to mean anything substantial??
Ugh.. disappointing.
