Overheal and Mundo

The tooltip of this rune states in its description that the shield is built up from 40% of excess self healing. So why does Mundo not recieve a shield when hes ulting or has his warmogs procd or simply from his passive regen? Is health regen not considered self healing? I think the tooltip needs more clarity.

Id assume it doesnt work as it is passive regeneration. If it worked that way, every champ will have access to it because of rengeration.

But wouldn't that be good? Rune diversity!

TheThundersRoar14 votes

Well, no, because this rune would become basically +10% max HP (kinda OP).

That being said, I think the active healing from Mondo's ult should count as a heal, not regen.

No, because everyone would spawn with their normal HP, no shield, and if you're a normal champion with normal regen, the shield will build up quite slowly. It wouldn't just be +10% HP.

Except in spawn you have a crazy high bonus to regen, so by the time you start moving your shield would be up.

Outside of "just returned to base" it wouldn't be much of an issue on the majority of champs.

Well crap, didn't account for the fountain. That kinda throws my point out the window.

the shield could just fall off after X seconds out of combat.

But that kinda defeats the idea of natural regen giving the shield. I think the way to do that would be to just make the fountain not overheal specifically.

If it worked with passive regen, Garen would be kinda broken, no?

Bârd23 votes

Not really.

You'd have a decent shield, but it's still on Garen.

Regen is not considered self healing. its considered regen. Its a separate mechanic for reasons just like this.

Revitalize - Increases healing by 5-10%. Works with regeneration.

Overheal - Excess healing becomes a shield. Doesn't work with regeneration.

Where are your clarity gods now Durzaka?

VorpaltheFox3 votes

regen is a replenish, it stops when you're at full hp, so it no longer becomes "excess" healing because it's not healing at all at that point, as for the revitalize it affects you at any health, not just as max like overheal

Which is all fine and dandy until it's not mentioned anywhere in game.

Thus the clarity issue persists.

I'd assume the way healing interacts with ur max HP is slightly different. Maybe healing gets its value reduced if it exceeds ur max HP, and regen jsut tstops when ur at max HP.

Yes. Because we want DrMundo and Garen to have giant Malphite shields because they have regen and build a ton of HP.

Spoofghoul7 votes

well if regen aint healing then why is it affected by grievous wounds

such double standards

Dryditch1 votes

It did work for Mundo's passive, but not his ulti, as far as I could tell. Also, 40% of passive regen is pretty damn small, so you won't notice it.

Kyunsei1 votes

Revitalize in the resolve tree also doesn't work with Mundo.

Z3Sleeper4 votes

It actually does. Just scroll down to the table that specifies what types of healing work with it.

http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Revitalize

PS: It literally works with everything except "health increase" effects.

It doesn't. Tested in game, except for Q health restore, Passive and Ultimate are not increased by revitalize.

Well that sir is a bug.

Dunno, as for my part, I think it's unintended. Pretty sure every healing over time ability is counted as health regen and is unaffected by Revitalize, which is sad.

Z3Sleeper3 votes

It's supposed to work on literally anything that restores health other than health increases. If that's not how it's working then it's a bug and not working as intended.

Like Conditioning giving +8 base armor instead of bonus ?

RIP.

Also I looked again. Apparently the first portion (+5%) is literally the "healing and shielding" stat, which doesn't work with regen. The second portion (+10%) works with regen though.

Apparently this rune alone can give you +15.5% healing from shields and heals but not regen. Regen is only 10% when low on health.

Nope. No bonus health regen, either 5% or 10% or 15% or 15.5% or anything. It simply won't increase health regen at all, including health regen ability (singed ultimate, Mundo, etc...)

Z3Sleeper1 votes

It doesn't work under 40% health either? Yeah it has to be a bug then, that shouldn't be the case at all.

Also after more digging I've found people posting that the rune is bugged anyway and is causing some skills that cost health to cost more health (it's working both ways).

I think it's safe to say it's just not worth taking atm.

I believe its because health regeneration stops once your champion health hits 100%
