How do you get an S?
I seriously don't get it >.< I just wanna get level 7 </3
I went 3/2/21 and got an S & just now went 3/1/39 and got an A+

It changes for each match.
It looks at the stats across the whole region for the MMR you are in and compares them to each player. The KDA, CS, Game Length, Wards Placed/Destroyed, Objectives Taken (Towers, Inhibs, Baron/Dragon/Herald), The role you play the champion in, the champion's difficulty. So you have to look at each game differently and make sure you have the same amount of participation if not more for each one.
When looking at OP.gg for the 1 / 6 / 22 game; it says that you had a 82% Kill Participation as well seeing the overall match had 28 / 31 / 64 vs 31 / 28 / 60
Then you look at the 3/1/39 game and you had a 71% since the overall match was 59 / 39 / 103 vs 39 / 60 / 25
so in the end you were actually worse off in second game even if you had a better KDA, as it is compared to the whole team.
oh man lol i guess i was just getting frustrated because it seemed off but thanks for clearing that up for me [zombie-nunu-tears]
MMR doesn't matter.
Actually it does. It looks at the MMR/Ranks of the person playing it and compares them to others in the same range.
Someone should probably tell the designers that then. https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/bZL8vAWw-champion-mastery-qa?comment=000f0000
That's just saying it's not calculating your Score based on the MMR, but it still compares your Score with others in the same MMR/Rank or you would have a horribly misjudged grade. If someone in say Silver got C for Support and it was judging the same champion to another player that happened to be Master, where they got an S with a similar if not same score to as the Silver it'd be obviously judging it wrong due to where they are. So it has to look at people that are similarly ranked inorder to gather correct date.
They literally say that grades are absolute, and that they're not comparing you based on MMR.
Do you have any source for your claims other than your intuition?
They explicitly address the scenario you outline in that post and in the podcast and basically say "yeah we expected we'd have to do this, but it turns out that we don't after actually looking at the data". The cutoff for S+ is top 2% of all performances (from the podcast around 10 minutes in) on the specific champion in the specific role, meanwhile master+ players make up the top 0.06% of all players (and most of those players aren't playing a given champ/role combo making it even less impactful), so being compared to a master player doesn't actually matter in getting an S+. (Also, if people were compared to their mmr, S grades would be just as common in bronze elo as in pro elo, and yet pro players constantly get S grades, and more broadly the higher in elo you go the higher peoples grades tend to be.)
Not to mention, that's for the completely overkill level of an S+ grade, getting an S- or S is going to be that much easier, and while the percentile cutoffs haven't been given for those, it's likely you only need a performance on par with a plat level player or so on a given champion/role combination.
You can't read. It's comparing them to other players, and thus has to look at them in a certain range. It cannot compare grades of a Bronze to that of a Challenger.
We're grading you against all other players in that champion and position combo. We're not looking at your MMR. Grades are absolute.
I don't think they can be any clearer.
And the world doesn't think you could get denser, but guess we were wrong :)
Ok, but the world edits the wikis, and they agree with me and rioters, while you still haven't given any sources.
Sources is right in the game, regardless of what Riot tells you. Everyone can see it.
If everyone can see it, then how come no one has actually edited the wiki to reflect that? How come smurfs don't exclusively get S+'s? How come challenger players generally do reliably get S grades?
If everyone is graded relative to their MMR as you claim, then bronze players in bronze MMR would have the same difficulty getting S grades as challenger players playing in challenger MMR, and yet that's not the case (even if you insist rioters are lieing about it, you can watch bronze streams and challenger streams and compare the average grades). And I mean, why would riot lie about how it works? It's not like you have to pay real money to get graded or something, so theres no incentive for them to be part of a big conspiracy with the wiki people [who consist of basically everyone since thats how wikis work] and streamers.
I pretty reliably get at least A+/S- on Janna at plat/diamond elo depending on queue (although my grades remain consistent between them despite elo differences), so you'd think bronze and sub 30 games would have lower standards, and yet somehow I still tend to mostly get A+'s on my janna only smurf. Now sure, maybe you think my MMR is super high and I'm actually just playing with a bunch of other smurfs at plat+ MMR, and yet looking up some of the people in my games they're mostly silver 5 or so with approximately 50% winrates. (And what's more, I'm actually arguably doing slightly better in my low elo games since I won't die at all, compared to 1 or 2 deaths at higher elo games.)
You're still talking?
Creeps, ward placement, objectives, etc. k/d/a alone is not enough. Though as a support, you objectives and wards would be what you want to look into.
thanks for the reply but i did look at the stats for all of that and i scored higher in the game i got an A in lol
It's measured against game duration also. Whicj is why you often see 5S games when you manage to close out the game pre-20. (though those stats are bound to change with Surr@15 changing things up)
Measured against other players playing same champion in the same role. Depends on game length. Kill participation (not kda) matter. Your minion score is most important. Your vision score (wards placed/destroyed) is also heavily considered.
CS per miunte duration of game Damage to enemy champion & team in general( how well you engage the enemy) Vision control.
