Help with FPS in game?

I know my pc is actually pretty decent. I’ve just been trying to see how to get more FPS or even a high stable FPS. I plan to upgrade some more when I get money but I know my pc can handle it. I have a GeForce 1060 3gb I believe I have it on medium high setting for everything graphics wise(in game). I touched 300fps last night but of course that was just waiting for minions. It dropped to about 220fps then sits anywhere between 130-170 with and occasional dip to 90fps. I want to try and hold it at a stable FPS like 160 on max settings even in a fight which is where most tend to lose FPS or even 200 if I can get that at max settings. I’m not sure if it has anything to do with setting in my nvidia control panel but any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
