Loss Prevention PLEASE

I play a generally low elo, fine. But the amount of AFK players is absolutely making is impossible to climb. At least once or twice a day I run into a game where someone has afk'd. Granted, very few times, it's the opposite team. But that's still shitty man. It definitely would not be difficult to implement a loss prevention, ban ranked queues for afk players, etc. I've tried countless times to reach out to Riot regarding this and have received a resounding "we couldn't give a shit less" from every employee response. I've played for a very long time, but this is pushing me over the edge.

Edit: I'm somewhat surprised at the amount of players saying "Sorry its not how that works" "Sorry will never work that way". The point of this thread was to discuss the fact that loss prevention/penalty for AFK could use a lot of work to help players across all elos in saving LP from AFK's. Perhaps it was lost in my initial post because players immediately associate the words "loss prevention" with a request to lose 0 LP in an afk game. My point is to draw attention to the fact that the penalty system does not discourage players who do not care for LP from AFKing.

You're just going to get downvoted in oblivion and Riot will not support it because they are afraid you will get your friend to AFK for you if the match goes bad so you can get a loss prevented...

You know.. making 4 players suffer because they might be doing it for a friend on the team rather than taking a hard stance on the clearly negative behavior their algorithms are masters of differentiating between.

The point of this post is to draw attention to the clearly lacking loss prevention system. I advocated for a harsh penalty against those who afk, so your point doesn't really make a lot of sense to me. If their friend afk's, they get a ban. It's not difficult and it would definitely serve to discourage those who do it so commonly.

Trust me they know.

I feel the same, AFK in RANKED should be harshly penalized.

The mantra by Riot used to be "If you are playing ranked you should be putting your best foot forward, you should ensure you have the time to play the match in an environment free from distraction. You should also ensure that your internet connection is stable."

However, Riot won't support it because in their own words, they are afraid someone will get their friend to duo with them so they can AFK if the match goes bad.

The problem is... Riots sales are dropping each year, and they've been desperate about it for awhile. Every player banned is a customer lost.

They spin this whole bullshit story that people are rarely toxic and you'll likely never encounter them again if they are... so just mute them and block them (which has no effect - just a mute that prevents them from trying to add you as a friend).. Which for the most part is true.. you are unlikely to see that player again.. however I have players I randomly encounter at least twice a week on the rift...

They are just banking on you not remembering that person if you do encounter them again somehow.. You get to report them, it justifies your negative emotions, and both of you go on to play another game and buy new yas skins.

They only actually do something about the player if the reports start coming in heavy.

Sorry but it's not gonna ever be that way. If you can't climb, then you don't deserve to be higher, that's the reality of it.

Yeah, I said I play low elo. But that doesn't mean I should lose games to afk's. The point is to discuss how Riot could potentially alleviate LP loss from afk across all elos, my personal skill aside.

CarameloO2 votes

Yes, but that's how these game work... is skill based. They believe we can all carry as a single player if we want to climb.

Riot could follow what another game I know of does and not let people loss points for an AFK or even have reduced loss but they feel there's too many issues in that. You'll see that around the forum too as people will generally say it's abuseable. In the case if it were like a Duo and they ran into an unfavorable match up, one of them would DC and then it wouldn't count against the other for that game. This is what Riot sees as an issue. Even if they did do what they do for Ranked currently and make BOTH players lose LP for being Duo in that fashion it'd cause a much larger backlash. So, Riot of all companies isn't going to do something like this.

I'm actually baffled at this response. Again the point is not: My skill, what riot will or will not do, to give loss prevention to every single player with an afk.

the point IS: There is currently a lack of penalty to discourage players from afk'ing games and requeuing at their convenience. This is "abuseable" as some players, especially in my low elo, couldn't care less if they lose LP and receive no penalty other than LP loss.

If that was the point, how was any one supposed to even get that? You never once said there isn't enough of a punishment against players that AFK. Your topic is title "Loss Prevention please" which first brings people to think that you want Loss Prevention when people AFK. Especially when you also said " It definitely would not be difficult to implement a loss prevention," which already something in the game and works when needed.

You only mention "ban ranked queues for afk players, " once and it doesn't really add to the context of the rest of the post. Especially when you jump right in to "we couldn't give a shit less" from every employee response" afterwards. So maybe instead of belittling people here you should actually think about what you wrote and fully make sure it's indeed there. It's missing most of ANYTHING that you just brought up.

Besides, there are other measures in place such as LeaveBuster that are there to prevent people from leaving, but you know, nothing is going to be prefect no matter what they do. They've already said before they won't lock people out of certain queues or create things like prisoners island where all the "bad" players go.

You typed your response after I edited this post to include that information. You just didn't read it. I did not once insult you or intend to so idk what you're going on about. Another response no longer worth replying to.

These higher elo players will all say the same thing.

I finally got out of IRON a few weeks ago. The games aren't much better... but I finally got a good 10-15 games where nobody AFK'd or the AFK was on the other team and I was able to get through the promos into Bronze.

Anyone over silver doesn't understand the issue.

Iron games especially are full of back to back AFKS and you don't climb out on skill.. just luck... luck that no one on YOUR team afks or came in to be a toxic troll.

Sorry, but loss prevention is for server wide issues that affect massive amounts of games. Just cause someone afked in a single match didn't mean it happened over 1000s of other games at the same time.

There already is the remake option for when someone fails to connect at the start, which yes has a small window of usage but when used/available it can be helpful. If a team chooses not to use that it's on them.

Also, I've had afks before and we have still managed to win some of those, so maybe it's not them that's keeping you back.

Guticar1 votes

Yeah you did not address anything I said, at all. You actually intend to place the blame on my skill as player because I cannot win a 4v5?

Example: Rengar in my last game dared someone to ping him 4 minutes into the game, two minutes later a ping goes down and he thanks them for making his day and afk's the game. This has to due with my skill as a player apparently. Don't waste your time typing that garbage.

Be mad all you want but I did indeed. Loss Prevention is only enabled if it is a server wide issue. One game out of millions is not. If you lose, you lose. If you win, you win.

Guticar1 votes

Again, you are displaying a clear lack of understanding. If you can't take the time to read the post and gather a legitimate response, you are not worth replying to anymore. "Be mad all you want", but your response lacks any thoughtful insight to the actual point of this thread. It is also ridiculous to assume that the afk ratio is actually 1:1,000,000 lmao.

EDIT: Realized after clicking your profile that you troll forums professionally, nice bait. Nice life.

Sukishoo3 votes

No, it was a clear insight on how they use the systems that they have in place. You are the one that does not understand that. So good luck.

Guticar1 votes

Again, has nothing to do with the point of this thread. Maybe you are looking for a different one.

Sukishoo3 votes

No it indeed is not. You posted "Loss Prevention PLEASE" As in you want them to give you lose prevention whenever someone afks in your match. That in itself is NOT how lose prevention works. Lose Prevention is when there are again, massive server issues that would cause people to DC, Lag, ect in a massive amount of games on a server.

Guticar1 votes

You are getting so close to the actual point!! I KNOW that is not how it works. The point of this thread is to discuss how it SHOULD work. I have a feeling I'm being trolled, so I will formally submit this discussion. See ya.

Sukishoo2 votes

Yes, I know that's how YOU want it to work but it's NOT how it does nore how it will. There's too many things that can be exploited and abused in that setting thus Riot will not change it from how it is actually intended to work. See this is what YOU don't understand.

It's not gonna happen

I agree that Riot does not care enough to make it happen. Doesn't mean that there isnt absolutely a need to further the penalty/loss prevention system to prevent players from trolling. They queue right back up when the game ends.
