I don't know what masteries/runes to do. I have done them but.. I got them from sites... I would like to know how to do them by myself.

This really comes from understanding what your champion's strengths are, and what role you are going to play in the game. Fortunately you can set up multiple mastery pages and label them so that you can easily select them in champion select.

My suggestion is really just to sit down and go through each mastery page so that you know what each one does. Pick a champion and identify what roles that champion can excel at. For example, if you are going to play a champion who can be a fighter or a tank, you can then set up a page that will optimize their potential as a fighter, and another page that optimizes their potential as a tank. .. maybe even a page that gives them a fair balance with both.

A lot of the good guides for builds explain why they use the runes that they do. If you are new to the game I suggest AD reds AD quints flat armor yellows and flat MRes, even on AP casters if you are new this is pretty good because most new players lack the ability to last hit efficiently.

I actually didn't even notice you asked about Runes too lol. Go to the League of Legends Wiki. and search for Runes or Lists of Runes. There is a list of which runes are Primary for Marks, Seals, Glyphs, and Quintessences. Primary runes provide the most value for their rune type. Secondary Runes can still be useful, but do are not as 'cost effective.'

Having two Rune Pages to start with I would recommend basing your pages on what your champion's main damage source is, AD or AP.

Marks: Most commonly you will see AD marks, but you can also make an argument for mixing in Attack Speed and/or Armor Pen in there, but I would always recommend at least one Crit% Mark for any AD champion. On AP champions, If they rely heavily on their ability damage I would suggest Magic Penetration, if they are a fairly heavy auto attack champion as well I would suggest Hybrid Pen, although this is pretty expensive.

Seals: For AD champions you are safest in getting flat Armor Seals, but if they are a mana consuming champion (as most AP champions are) you may want to get flat or scaling Mana Regeneration.

Glyphs: For your AD page you're probably best off getting Magic Resist. For your AP page, get AP Glyphs

Quintessences: In my opinion this is where you get the most freedom and you should really consider what your playstyle is. I personally favor Movement Speed because it doesn't matter what champion you are playing, movement speed helps. For my AD, auto attack heavy champions, I think getting Life Steal Quits is useful. For my AP champions, AP Quits or Spell Vamp.

Rune Pages take a super long time to put together.
