How does the ranked system work?

I'm in my provisional matches right now, and I'm worried. I've been paired with trolls in my ranked games (the last ranked game being a shaco jungle with no smite!!), another game with somebody pleading with somebody to switch roles so he can play top (cause he got support), got it, locked in darius and fed because it was his first time playing darius, even though he said he was experienced on him. The first provisional game I played i had a plat rengar on my team and he quit, etc. I feel like I'm gonna be placed in bronze if this keeps happening...

Sadly, trolls are a part of the game, it happens. Don't worry too much, you'll get games without trolls most of the time. Most people I would say get placed silver their first time doing provisionals. Just focus on your own gameplay and you'll be fine.

I'm on my provisionals too, been totally shredded to pieces there. The games feel kinda wierd too, like empty, it's hard to explain. And you know, I never thought that the gap between "wahoo, I'm level 30, I can rank now" (no smurf or anything) and Silver was this huge. I'm usually getting wrecked, unfun wrecked, "what am I doing with my life" wrecked.

On a side note, I've been told that in provisionals they put you against Silver (average elo they say). I don't think that's too wise, it feels like an boxer having matches with people of higher weight classes.

I'd say you wait a little bit and close that gap (skill, knowledge) or play with friends. Otherwise it's... Not really that fun.
