S6 placements

So after starting playing league in the middle of S4 i grinded my way up to Gold V. I didnt play at all during the S5 season and got back into playing during the preseason. I played my placement games and got put in S1 and got back into Gold V before this S6 reset.

After playing my S6 placements (which i went 6-4) I got dropped to Bronze 1. Did my rank decay from not playing the season but didnt show up until this reset?

Have no problem grinding back to Gold+ but was just curious as to what might have caused my placing to be Bronze 1

Most people dropped about a tier in level. So g5 would drop you to s5/b1. Somewhere in that field.

Wonder why such a drastic change in these placements for people. If I remember correctly i had the same record if not worse than how i did S6 placements.
