Leblanc mains on the rework

I know everyone is saying "Leblanc is so op now," but from someone who mains Leblanc, I think the playstyle has changed quite a bit. Before she was a super aggressive assassin that can get in and get out in less than 2 seconds. ADCs cannot even react to her. You can dive without getting a single scratch, but now it is literally impossible. So this is everything I hate about the Leblanc rework:

Distortion/w is delayed when you teleport back 1.The q turns into a passive that can only activate once every 5 seconds 2. Two buttons to use ult 3. 1.5 second delay for passive 4. Clone is uncontrollable 5. Slower combos 6. Slower to burst

Some good:

  1. Ult can mimic all abilities
  2. More burst
  3. Waveclear is better
  4. Shatter orb
  5. Easier combos

So overall, I really dislike the new Leblanc because it forces me to play completely differently after mastering the old one. For those who don't main/play Leblanc will most likely like it more, but in my opinion it feels like this reworked turned her a bit more Mage-like.

I love the new LB. There a better ways to whittle down your opponents to kill them instead of waiting to connect combos, and she actually has WAVECLEAR. She's lovely and I don't mind that it takes a little longer to assassinate now.

I'm a LB onetrick with > 1 million mastery points on my main. After the rework I was one of the biggest advocates on reverting her rework and complained nonstop about it. But, when you learn her, she's so much better than she was.

She's -MUCH- higher skillcap now. In fact, you have so many options in fights you don't even realize it. It wasn't until I played her 40 games in a row that I realized just how much potential and power she has.

Once you understand how many options you have in laning, teamfights, and skirmishes, you'll understand why the snap delay was added to W and the dmg delay as well.

If she didn't have those, but still had the waveclear and flexibility, she'd be hands down the most OP champ that's ever been released. But she'd also be gated behind a pretty massive skillfloor so most people wouldn't be able to unlock her potential. She's still REALLY strong.

I agree with her being strong, I didn't deny that one bit. Just a drastic change of playstyle.

I played her extensively on a smurf then came back here and got good and then she got reworked.

I'm just saying, from experience, you guys are playing her wrong. Max E second, it's so, SO much more burst it's overexcessive and if you don't know how to kite around the chain that's your own damn fault.

The new LB was needed tremendously. It may be a slightly different playstyle, but the new LB enables enemy players to have some sort of counterplay against her with her new passive. And if you learn the new LB and master it, you can become a god.

I prefer the new one :)

I prefer New LB, hands down. Been playing her non-stop and it takes time to get used to the new Ult change. Like you said she can't burst people in less than 1 second anymore, which in my opinion is a good thing. She gets compensated for better teamfight & damage combo.

So far I have yet to find an unbalance thing about her. Really love her rework.

Btw, I'm really just looking for answers by Leblanc mains, I know people are liking the rework, but I havent seen any mains talking about it.

I will respond to your complaints that I think you are overstating as someone who has played leblanc on and off for 4 years.

  • Distortion/w is delayed when you teleport back.

It is .25 seconds that goes down to about .1 second when the dash is done.

  • The q turns into a passive that can only activate once every 5 seconds

If you are still using the q to start a trade you are doing something wrong. Standard harass in lane is w onto enemy + minions if you can and q the minions to bounce. You can also go for chain that can self proc itself.

  • Two buttons to use ult

And you get more choice on what you ult, do you not use smart cast or something so you have problems with 1 extra button?

  • 1.5 second delay for passive

Mostly worth it for waveclear plus the aoe burst in teamfights now, one w or rw into a team plus q is a stupid high amount of damage across an entire team.

  • Clone is uncontrollable

The rr clone isn't the r qwe variant is, it is destroyed after one instance of damage but you can control it still.

  • Slower combos

Her combos are the same speed? I think you mean the slower burst which you listed after this.

First off, I'm not saying that she is nerfed, my main point is that her play style was changed. Imo, I thought it changed drastically, since I can't seem to grasp the play style quickly after having 250k mysteries with her and an avg of 3.6 kda with over 200 games ranked. I am also not asking you on how I should play the new rework nor did I asked for "on and offs" players (no offense). I play trist on and off with lvl 6 masteries, and I am garbage with her. So for me, it doesn't count, but still these are somethings I can say about your response.

  1. Distortion- In team fights, Leblanc often have to pick off carries, the delay makes it much easier for her to get caught, so even if you pick one off, it's more likely for you to not make it back.

  2. Passive- Old Leblanc can trigger it twice in less than a half a second. (Also not asking for how to play)

  3. 2 buttons to ult- I did write that as being a good part...but at the same time bad because it makes it a tiny tiny tiny bit slower which can affect some fights imo. If you disagree with that one, I can understand.

  4. 1.5 sec- that is a long time to burst as an assassin, waveclear was in the good section also...though I'd say it's just slightly better. And the bounce was in the good section as well...but I think of it as a brand ability, which reminds me of mages.

(I really don't like the fact you're arguing my points when I already addressed most of the positive.)

  1. Clone- You're right on the control part, but the one hit is actually even worse (again my opinion).

  2. Slower combos- Yes you are right. Passive affects the combo.

My argument is that she is more mage-like than assassin. She is still definitely an assassin, but the rework is making her more like mage. Also, I'm asking for people's preference (lb mains specifically), not really talking about what is best for the game.

Thanks for responding though.

From what I can tell, and correct me if I'm wrong, but you seem to be upset that she isn't like all the old versions of assassins after the rework. You are upset that now it takes a few seconds to outright kill your target and get out instead of immediately.

which, if I understood everything Riot was trying to get across. Was the point of the rework/update. To make assassins easier to handle throughout the game. To give them counter play.

As for my opinion on the new LB, which I realized isn't being asked for since I'm not an LB main so put that point away cause I don't care, I've only played against her twice so far. Each time she has destroyed me but that can be attributed to not being used to it yet. I think that Riot has made mostly appropriate changes to her so far except in her ult and passive. In the case of her ult it feels like the failed to bring forth what they said they wanted to in her patch notes. She doesn't feel like more of a deceiver, like an illusionist. Granted her ult gives her more options but it just seems to be more damage instead of getting into other players minds. As for her passive. I think it's too strong. it essentially moves old Leblanc's kill move over to all of her abilities. At early levels I don't feel confident that I can fight her because I know taking even one ability means I'm down one third of my health(which is like 200 since most champs have like 650 at level one or something). At early levels that is. I haven't looked at the scaling but I assume it balances out a bit so tanks can still do their thing.

All in all she feels more like Fizz if Fizz was able to use his E to go in, deal damage and leave half a second later with it. So I'm going to hold off making any concrete opinion until I'm upwards of 20 games with her.

Distortion- In team fights, Leblanc often have to pick off carries, the delay makes it much easier for her to get caught, so even if you pick one off, it's more likely for you to not make it back.

You can literally wq and that covers the entire delay man, you just don't seem to get that.

I have 3 accounts in plat+ with different assassins, I am very familiar with the assassin playstyle and run higher stats with 60%+ winrates. I am not garbage on assassins, I guess that is where we differ on "on and off" players.

Leblanc has always been the mageish assassin, from the fact that she is ranged to the fact she is one of the very few with cc. I am not sure what you wanted from them, a shorter kill time? Maybe you should take thunderlords instead of dft if you want to burst more?

Originally I had a response section here, then I pieced together from your way of responding to me and watching 5 mins of your replays that you quite frankly haven't adapted to the champ at all and are just looking for a circle jerk.

Dude it's easily going to take 20-30 games to even start to do well with her and not get tilted by the changes.

You have to relearn all the micro and stop yourself from doing the same things with her. She's a lot more fun when you stop trying to play her like the old one.

I doubt it tbh, her old one fast fast paced and super fun. I played 10 games already, and not really enjoying it.

Alot more fun? she looks like a reverse Ahri(early game strong late game useless yet old leblanc was stronger early cuz u could pop Thunderlords faster) to me right now ASSASSINS HELL NO. they turned her in to a sustain mage that cant dive the backlane nor can you go full AP build or you will get popped instantly really really horrible rework.

this delay to assassins rito please...

As someone who played support lb extensively pre-rework, I can safely say that their nerfs to her kit killed her viability in the role entirely. Much of her old reliable poke is gone, and compared to things like ekko she barely threatens adc's anymore.

Thank you for pointing out why old LeBlanc needed to go(and why some current champions still need to change).

Not allowing both sides to interact is straight unfun. Doesn't matter if it's balanced or not.

Outtie1 votes

I'm not asking why it should go. I'm asking what people prefer, don't care about balance, but the new Leblanc is actually stronger and I'm aware of that.

AUFault1 votes

The New LeBlanc is defiantly not stronger. She has a stronger early game but this wont matter in high elos. She is extremely weak late game.

AUFault1 votes

The wave clear is only better early game. The old LB had a much better wave clear after 6. To emphasise how bad then new LeBlanc really is - There was a bug on release that many of you will know of where once your pressed "RR" all of your ability's were reset off cool down and you could re use them. With what would seem an insanely over powered bug that if you imagined on any other midlaner would dominate the game, the new LB still managed to have a negative win rate over all severs and since they have removed this bug, her win rate has fallen even further.

The new LeBlanc has massive problems and Riot need to do something about it.

DNA Polymerase I1 votes

LB main too. New LB has much better lane but 100% useless after early game. Impossible to assassinate people. The delay is way to much to deal with. Playing something like an Annie give you a better chance to one shot someone. There is no reason to play LB other than for fun right now.

MaixCroft1 votes

the only reason I prefer the old Leblanc it s because she keep getting all these nerfs and people are still complain that s she s too op because everyone want that one champion that doesn t do much.

MaixCroft1 votes

But she s still good like to play and all

Couldnt agree more to lb mains the new lb is so clunky to play. I use to be able to play the old lb every game cuz she was so fun to play i loved the fast play style. this new lb i am very good with and shes definely strong but not even close to as much fun to play. They could have left lb and made a new champ like lb that is more mage like instead of fcking up the funniest champ in the game to play. the old leblanc was NOT that op that they had to get rid of her. so sad im slowly losing interest in leblanc and that makes my heart bleed. She was my baby girl!
