Adding Lore to the Game.
As many of you know, Riot has been trying to add diversity (I can't say that word with a straight face anymore) in League of Legends. Doing things like completely restarting the mastery page to have Keystone Mastery: where there is a select 9 powerful masteries whereas 1 is the best out of all of them, completely changing up marksmen role into more different item set in each game. Although these two changes are amazing, I feel like the one last push into the game is adding more lore into each different game.
Most of you know, Riot has been concluding their opinions to get the idea, "no two games are the same," which most of the time they are. While changes have been release, it still feels like some games come to the conclusion, get fed; get wins, feed; lose. Although this should be the similar game path of how players should be based on, there should be another unique idea, that you guys (Riot) have already done.
Once Kha'Zix and Rengar came out, everyone was so eager to try these two different champions. Both being assassins, of course everyone enjoyed them which brought popularity to both of them. If you are lucky enough, you may get Kha'Zix on one team and Rengar on the other and have a special lore event, "The Hunt is On." At the time, players were so amazed about this mysterious yet exciting "Side Quest" that no one knew about during those times. If you may not know, after some time in the game, if Rengar has, if I'm right, about 16 bones for his neckalace and Kha'zix has all of his avalible evolution, a side quest appears saying, "The Hunt is On." If Rengar kills or gets assist after killing Kha, he will have his head and get huge bonus stats that are game changing. Although if Kha wins the hunt, he gets all of his evolution making the predator that he is.
This idea was so unique cool, and badass how much the game change based on not what champion you play but the story that goes along with your champion. In my opinion, I feel like adding lore side quests in the game will cause more diverse games getting ready for what champion your facing, not only the match up, but the lore inside of it. Riot has done this before with Vi, Cait and Jinx, but it wasn't as depth it was more of a marker of, "how many time have you killed Jinx," or "On the Case," whereas they could've added gameplay elemnts to it and make it if Jinx has more kills than Cait after 20 minutes, her ultimate, Super Mega Death Rocket, evolves into, Super Ultra Mega Death Rocket, increasing explosion radius and area width. While if Cait has more kills, her ult can now pierce through ALL targets in the line, so no more tanks flashing to cover the bullet.
This is just scratching the surface of how much diversity can be added in the game by creating lore battles on the Rift, making each game different. Riot, you guys have done this before, this could be an excellent way to creating games than, arent just, get fed get towers dragon baron inhib nexus we win, but make games that have more story, more meaning into every game.
