Suggestion to reduce RNG from the new Dragons

The biggest issue that people seem to have with the dragon changes is the fact that the dragon is randomly determined. What I suggest is for some sort of switch to be placed in the dragon pit which would allow the players to toggle between the dragons.

The idea would be that the dragon starts out as a randomly picked dragon.

From there 4 gems (or whatever) corresponding to each of the dragon types could spawn inside the pit. By destroying one of these gems via auto-attacking them, the players can change which dragon is up next. After a certain amount of time, the gem would then respawn and allow for another dragon change.

A certain amount of time before the next dragon spawns, the switch would despawn and lock in the current dragon type.

This would allow for:

  1. High level play could control dragon types to fit strategy, eliminating RNG.
  2. A new objective would be in play when dragon is not available, giving teams something to fight over in the meantime. Potentially before minions even spawn depending on when the switch first spawns.
  3. A degree of randomness still exists if neither team bothers to control the dragon type.

After the dragons came out, I haven't really seen anyone complaining about the RNG, nor have I had a problem with it in game

pretty crazy idea, but i think which drake is spawned should be put to a vote for all 10 players. both teams cant see what the other team voted for until its finished, and can only see the votes from their own teams players.

would be pretty interesting having every player individually decide the spawn.

in case of a draw between 2 drakes it would randomly pick one of the 2 results.

it would show the results to both teams however so both can see how heavily contested a drake is (all 10 players voting for the same drake for example).

I think this idea is pretty good.
