qualifying for ranked tiers

What matters most when qualifying for ranked? The game set up makes it seem like its the win/loss ratio that matters most when qualifying for ranked tiers. Shouldn't it instead be based off of the players individual play ability? Shouldn't the tier you go into be based on you're KDA as compared to your teams total KDA's in your qualifying series games? I'm really just curious how that system works, I recently qualified for ranked, and my win loss ratio was really bad, but on a whole scale my KDA was consistently exceptionally better than my team mates, so I thought I might not place too bad.

The only thing that matters is win ratio. No individual skill metrics are used to determine your individual skill ranking. Part of the reason the ranking system is so dramatically flawed.

The league system in its entirety can be ignored completely. MMR is the only thing to focus on below diamond 1 as it is the only thing that matters since it is calculated via win ratio.

For in depth explanation as to how placements for ranked will work in the future for your account that info can be found here:

Your KDA is hovering around 1 for every champ and in fact is below 1 for every champ except Warwick.

I don't think your teammates are the problem here.

i promise, most of the team mates I played with had worse KDA's. and it still comes down to when were the kills and deaths. that needs to be calculated. did I die 8 times in the first 10 minutes or did i die once most of the game and then 7 times at the end? as I said above, I could just leave when the games go south, but that seems unethical.

If your gonna get this way over people analyzing your games and saying you aren't ready yet, you are just proving the point even more. It does not matter if you hold your kda for the longest time. Doesn't matter when your deaths happen. If I go 1/10/5 with my main, I'm not gonna think "ohh I only died near the end". I'm gonna think "Wow, I'm having one hell of an off day" Second reason you are not ready for ranked, "most of the team mates I played with had worse KDA". You are worrying to much about your teammates, In ranked you have to worry about your own performance, better yourself and ignore them. So what if you lose because your top is 0/13 and your mid is 0/8, think of your own performance. So I will say it again, no matter how much it pisses you off, You are not ready for ranked! I know it hurts to be told that, but its the truth.

you just proved my original point. you cant ignore your team mates, their performance affects your standings. and when you die absolutely matters lol. its like you're supporting that i should just leave when the game goes south, because thats the only way to keep your score from going down the trash late game when your team has fed their lanes up. that or just ignore and abandon your teams plays to avoid death.

you can either take advice from a 2 season plat with 3 seasons of experience or you can make excuses for your placements and make further excuses when you fall to low bronze. You need to understand that people offer advice not becaues you are owed it but because they want to help.

if you think that being good isn't enough: do you think that if I was put in one of your games, I would do as poorly as you?

You seem to misunderstand what i said, that does not mean to abandon your team and leave. Just ignore them if they are doing extremely poor. Only look at yourself. Do not try to justify how good you did by your kda or by how long it took till you died. You will only hit bronze 5 with that thought process. Here is an example of one of the matches that was won with feeders on my team. http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/2207677850/201886191?tab=overview&participant=7 How did we win? well, we ignored the two on our team that weren't performing their best. That's what you need to do.

By ignore i don't mean shun them, in case your thinking that. It means to just ignore the fact they are feeding, and think of it as the game is just against a higher team.

It's your mmr that really matters, versus strictly speaking your win/loss ratio, although they're closely related. Your mmr goes up on wins and decreases on losses, but by how much depends on your mmr compared to the average mmr of the opposing team (and so someone in premades a lot can find themselves with a wildy different mmr from a strictly solo player despite having the same win/loss ratio).

If you have a tendency to have an above average kda, then that should translate to your ability to carry the game to victory. Having a good kda doesn't mean anything if you don't put it to use though, which is why only winning/losing ultimately matters.

agreed, it feels like its harder to influence a team to victory by carrying in the lower tiers though, theres a lot of people who dont like to work with their teams, and very often people get very far behind in lane very early, and that makes it very challenging even for a capable player to carry. Especially if you're in a role like support or jungle. it really just feels like a super flawed system. I don't even care what tier I'm in, I just want my games to be good, and to be honest only 1/10 games I play are good, the rest are blow outs one way or the other. That just screams bad matchmaking to me. I don't know what else to think.

it feels like at higher tiers you watch players carry teams because they're LOSING. at lower tiers it seems like you're carrying teams because they're INCOMPETENT. and it's a big difference in gameplay.

Im just gonna say this now, and dont take it the wrong way. By looking at your games i can tell you arent ready for ranked yet. Play aram and normals for about 6 more months. If you get in to ranked while you are still green, you will become quite toxic and soon hate the game.

yea, but you didnt WATCH my games, you didnt watch me maintain 0-1-6 for 15 minutes in a game where the team is 6-21. of course my scores are going to be garbage by the end of the game. i mean, i can just always leave when the game goes south, but that seems unethical. and If i'm not ready for ranked now, i should just uninstall, i've been playing since season 2.
