Ignore everyone here that says Wit's is good on him please.

Wit's End is gutter trash on all champions except one or two situations on one or two champions. Jax is no exception to this rule.

I don't know why people always try to do "innovative builds" on Jax. Triforce and BoRK are the most optimal items on him. Hexdrinker and Zephyr for other situations.

It doesn't matter if you want to try to play Jax with a Hextech or Guinsoo's for some reason, but please don't try to push the idea that they're even remotely close to optimal on him. Don't try to make others think that it's a good idea to build Hextech instead of Tri, or to forgo a BoRK for a Guinsoo's.

Hybrid Jax is shit since his rework and it's going to continue to be shit unless Riot changes his scalings or abilities as a whole.

The best way to play Jax is definitely bruiser with BoRK/Tri. Of course you cant build what you want and you can even build Hextech after BoRK/Tri if you're fed enough(although a tank item would be better), just don't build it in place of your core items. It's not worth it unless you can afford to waste 3400 gold on an item that really won't empower you for the gold you put in.

Hextech can be "okay" over BOTRK at times if you like want to burst things slightly more for whatever reason. Never replace Trinity. Although Idk why you're playing Jax if you want burst. But for someone new to Jax yes always go BOTRK because it never is a "wrong" answer on him. I agree that Wits is never good on Jax.

BoRK just works better with Jax in 99% of situations. Hextech does give more initial burst but quickly gets outdamaged by BoRK's attack speed and on-hit. The MS steal is also important for Jax, and its sustain is superior.

I just think Hextech is for when you're mega fed and it really doesn't matter what you build.

Pretty much always useful on Shyvana, unless the enemy team doesn't have enough magic damage to make 25-50 MR useful. Her offense scales more on AS than AD, and the MR shred scales with everything but her Q, which is just a (doubled) basic attack reset. It's also cheap. Sure, BotRK is attractive and deals more damage, and it's what I take when I have an obvious lead, but Wit's End fills the spot if the game is going slower.

But otherwise, agreed. It's just a step below what's best for Jax.

wit end gives magic shred

Wit's End is actually pretty effective on Jax. He deals a surprising amount of magic damage (Empower, Grandmaster's Might, the Wit's End proc itself and Devourer if you jungled Jax), so the magic shred improves your damage from all those sources. Plus there's the fact that Jax has an innate attack speed steroid and benefits from the on-hit anyway as a result. It's especially effective if an enemy Ekko or something gets fed cause it gives him MR too.

what about top jax

Could work against a 5 ap team where you have lots of magic damage as well. Otherwise it's just completely inefficient compared to triforce, bork, and even most ad items like hydra and hex drinker,

Just like every other item in the game on Jax- it can work. If you go with a bami's cinder item it will increase the damage of that as well.

It's effective.

The thing about Jax is that literally any item is effective on him. The question is always to what degree of effectiveness.

The long and short of it, it's a solid supplement if you're focusing on magic damage. I'd probably pick up something stronger first, then take this.
