What, like the first days of open beta?
There are still a few around like Kristopherous or however you spell his name.
I've been here since just before Season One started, so I missed out on a lot of the really absurd beta nonsense.
Everyone used to have innate crit chance scaling. Jax used to be able to dodge towers. Ez's Essence Flux originally healed allied champions hit. Release Xin could 1v5 teams if he got rolling. Release LeB deleted you and there was ziltch you could do about it. Release Udyr was hilariously overpowered. Sunfire Capes used to fully stack (I still hold Sunfire Eve was the funniest thing ever). Last Whisper only applied to auto-attacks, not to spells even if they did physical damage. Koggy's W did physical damage and doubled his bonus AD for one patch. Teemo couldn't store mushroom charges, but they had absolutely disgusting base damage and scaling damage. Hourglass/Deathcap used to effectively be one item. Dragon used to spawn before minions did, leading to epic level 1 dragon battles. Release Vlad, oh God that was awful. Amumu and Galio's ults both lasted significantly longer, leading to a rather crazy AoE meta that lasted for a while.
What else am I forgetting?
Kayle's passive used to grant AP for AD and AD for AP, Jax's passive gave him ridiculous HP for AD and AP, Shen's shield used to last 8 seconds and his Taunt was 2.5 seconds, every single hard CC in the game used to last 0.5-1.5 seconds longer, the existence of Innervating Locket and Force of Nature, Warmog's used to give twice as much HP and greater regen, Bloodthirster used to be 60 AD and 12% Lifesteal, and gained 40 AD and 6%(?) Lifesteal after farming minions, and those buffs stacked across multiple BTs, several of the current Unique/Named passives stacked in the past (including the ability to stack two Spellblades), and I know I'm also forgetting a bunch of crazy shit but that's just some things.
o..m..g
Like back when Phantom Dancers stacked and gave dodge, Kayle passive gave bonus ap for ad and vice versa... Trust me the game has gotten much better, though the community has a ways to go (not that Lyte and his crew have not done some awesome things to help, really kudos to them.)
Holy shit what? phantom dancers stacked? kayles passive? my lord what am i hearing
Trust me that is just the tip of the iceberg... on top of that every new champ release resulted in either a super overpowered champ or a drastically underpowered one. Kind of like the release of Feral Flare but even more unbalanced. The Riot team has gotten pretty good at what they do. Which is why I think the "Champ X is OP NERF" threads are kind of stupid...
I completely agree they have come a long way and are trying to make it as balance as possible, but learning how it used to be sounds like a freaking sandbox mode lol
Fortify was an annoying summoner spell to. Global range, it made all your teams turrets immune to damage for a brief time, while also boosting their attack speed by 100%. There was also a mastery you could have that made fortified turrets do splash damage.
The original version of Promote was also super annoying. It basically gave you a super minion when you used it, and unlike the version they released later on, it could be used on non-cannon minions originally, so it meant 5 people with the skill all pushing mid was super strong. Heres a video to show you the power.
Edit: Oh yeah, there was also a bug where poppy could knock baron around and basically push him down lanes etc.
I thought summoners didn't exist anymore.
I joined early season 3. I'm sorry.
I have a friend who's been playing since beta release and he's more of in the middle of how things are now like how the game is improving, yet the company is making poor decisions lately. Now me I've been around since preseason 2 and all I have to say is that those were the golden days of league back then when there wasn't a messed up meta and almost all games were enjoyable, but as time goes on things change.
like the jungle changes they did this season?
Yeah they really could have done a lot better, but this is only preseason so there's still hope.
Probably the most OP thing ever, was when Archangles staff could stack. So you would often see a ziggs get like 5 tears of the goddess, then a deathcap. If they EVER got to late game, you were pretty much guaranteed to die from 1 spell.
I played since day 1. Some things are better and some are worse IMO. Lot's of funny stories like twitch and eve perma invisible would stack 6 sunfire capes and stand beside you, watch you die for no reason in a matter of seconds without knowing why, haha XD Champs were simple and everyone was noob, we were all learning together. Those things made it fun. New op champs with insane skill caps and far more viability than the classic champs is kind of a downer for me. As with a few other games I played since day 1, it makes me feel nostalgic seeing and talking about those crazy old times, and I miss those times; but the game is still good :)
lmfaoo thats hilarious
I haven't been around long but depending on how new you are I was around during the release of like feral flare or some crap like that. You think yi and warwick are op now, but wait till you see what they were like with the release feral flare.
na i started season 3 lol when lissandra came out
